Low fov with indoor environments makes me feel queasy. I remember playing some other recent Unreal Engine game that also didn't have proper widescreen so I hope it's not a weakness of the engine, but that it can be easily fixed.

I liked the demo more than I had expected. Early demonstration videos suggested that there would be more "exploration" and less of a guns blazing shooter, but later videos and this demo leans towards there being plenty of ammo and weapons to go duking it out in almost every situation. I hope this is not indicative of the early levels of the full game at least.

I guess if I had a widescreen monitor and this problem was not fixed in the final version then I would be a little upset. I am not into the whole gaming on a screen the size of a wall so it doesn't effect me like it does others. It sounds like the problem is stemming from the engine itself. RB6V is another game running on the same engine that seems to have resolution issues because even at 1280x1024 it looks way to close. If the game didn't suck so bad for me it would still be playable though. It would suck if they have to scrap the engine for this problem because I kinda like the actual look and feel of it.

RB6V works fine on widescreen resolutions, first because of a hack, and later on because of patch by Ubi that fixed it.

I know because 2 days ago I started a new campaign playing it at 1920x1200 with everything as they should be.

Dunno if anyone mentioned it but all I had to do to enable AA was install the new driver and when I checked nhancer it had a Bioshock profile using the HDR+AA profile of RS:Vegas.

I actually find the pc demo (Steam Version) superior to the x360 demo..I now know my choice i'll be paying for.

Makes a change to see a decent console to pc port for a change.

just got back from Circuit City where they are selling BioShock for $39.99

the game looks and sounds amazing so far...I don't see an in game screenshot key...anyone know how to take them without using Fraps?

finaly got a chance to play the demo. i was honestly more then suprised at how well it ran for for me. the game defaulted everything to high/on and 1024x768, and the game for the most part 45-60fps. the more intense parts were at 30-40 with some dips down into the low/mid 20s.

the problem with AA is in the unreal engine, nothing to do with the game.

incidentally those of you having problems in vista and getting no sound once the game starts, run the game in windows XP compatibility mode.

i just tried installing the hotfix and it completely screwed my system. im going to try the regular 7.8s instead now.

No real problems here 'cept the error with AVIVO. I found that the best way to install it is to install overtop of the previous drivers. A fresh install screws everything up. Also, the errors that pop up are related to the video-in/video-out chip, so if you use that you can install driver from the regular driver to correct this.

Is there a performance increase/difference between the official 7.8 and the hot fix driver? Yes. As mentioned on AMDs site the hotfix fixes some graphical glitches, of which I noticed using Cat 7.8s. Those are now gone. However, I also, for some strange reason that isn't mentioned, is that when running in Crossfire, performance is a little better than before.

On a side note, here I am, at work, with the PC Limited Collectors Edition sitting beside me, which has been sitting there beside me since this morning when I bought it, and I could swear it's taunting me, cuz it knows I won't be able to play it for another 4 or 5 hours until I get home.

My god, what an amazing game. I've only just played the demo, but it is really amazing. It ran excellent on my system (surprizing). It's sad that I won't have the loot to pick it up. Really is amazing though. Other dev's should take a page out of its book. The atmosphere is amazing.

Well this is just a great deal of fun...

NOT!!!!!

I can't play since I can't see my mouse on screen but after moving it around you can see the buttons light up so I go and launch the game and I get the audio but no video. All the video is after the main video of him sitting down is just black and white squares with some fire in the upper left. I am downloading the ATI hot fix and I hope that fixes the problem!

If not I wasted hours and hours waiting for this download to finish lol

I will be pissed off if I can't play this demo!

I really want to play this demo since my 360 is in the shop and can't play the 360 demo

EDIT: After installing the hot fix I still have no luck... I am really mad since I really wanted to play this game... Now I am left with no choice other than the 360 to buy it or at least play the demo.

Actually, I believe your card isn't supported. It requires SM3.0 and the earliest models which do that are Nvidia 6600 and ATI X1300. It's even in the minimum requirements.

If you are too lazy to read them, just use the program (it has a readme.txt) and choose
for both sliders 0.8333 for a proper widescreen fov, or 0.75 for a fov similar to widescreen versions of games like Doom3, Half Life, Quake etc.

I have tried the program and it works.

It works for XP systems but most (not all) Vista systems have problems making it work. The guy has promised to work on it for those with Vista.
I wonder when/if Take2 will actualy fix it on their own. Anyway, the above works fine.

I'm eager to get the full game, but, I have some car repair/maintenance I need to take care of first.

But, this demo is quite an excellent foretaste of the game. Hacking the Bots, Camera/s, and Turret/s is a lot of fun.

My older son already has the 360 version and is playing the dickens out of it.

I'm also glad to read that the limitation of installations has been addressed. Being that my system configuration changes quite often, I really didn't want to go down that road and end up with a useless CD/DVD.

Thanks for the tip but having my game look like that is not worth it lol...

It's cool you would be able to play the game but I rather just buy the 360 Bioshock and have it looks a lot better lol

To be honest I know my computer is old (3 years) but this if the first time that the system specs by the game OWNED my computer...

I guess it's not really that old since I do up grade it but it's just that video card of mine.. X850XT
