Madden 08

Anyone out there pick up Madden 08 for the PC? If so, is anyone having an issue with the game loading where it hangs when you first bring up the game? Just curious as it seems to hang for me and it drives me nuts as I have to wait a few minutes before I can begin playing the game. After the initial loading of the game it seems fine except here and there when it is in "loading" mode. I don't have a slow machine, so I know this is not the problem. I just wanted to know if any others had the issue before spending lots of time troubleshooting the issue. (e.g., reinstall drivers etc.)

Ok since this post has been quiet here is what I've done so far. And before I begin here is my setup. And no nothing I did seemed to work, so maybe it will get fixed in a patch.

My setup:
Dell XPS410
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
4GB DDR2-667 RAM
Geforce 7900GS
2x250GB drives striped
Windows XP SP2

I've used both 94.24 & 163.14 forceware sets of drivers and the problem still persists. I am also running the latest DX9 (Aug. 07).

The main issue is when I pop in the disc and click to play Madden 08. It loads up with the pretty screen with Vince Young on the main page and the loading bar in the lower right hand corner just hangs for a few minutes until I finally get the music to start and the To Begin Click Here button. It's a small issue, but I've never had this issue with previous version of Madden and I'm running both 07 and 08 and it only does this for 08. So there is the skinny. Anyone else having this issue or here of a patch for this?

I have the game and I didn't have this problem on my main rig at all. On my secondary rig it loaded very slowly at first and the menus were very slow too, but I had forgotten to install my sound drivers, because I just did a fresh install of XP Pro. After I installed them I rebooted and it worked fine. I did read the readme file and it mentioned that some systems without real sound cards(not onboard audio) could have problems. That said my secondary rig only has AC97 onboard sound and it worked fine(once I loaded the drivers ). So maybe try updating your sound drivers...Good Luck

Unfortunately that did not do the trick either. It just hangs for a minute or so then finally lets me play. I'll wait and see what a few of the patches brings. I'm sure there will be one at the start of the real season for updated rosters at least.

Ah ha...I figured it out! For some reason I thought what they heck...I'll try something I had to under Vista for many EA games. Remove or rename the music directory. Many EA games will not work properly under Vista because of the way Vista sees/reads that directory for some reason in EA games (I've found many articles stating this). So I thought I would rename the Music directory to Music-old. And bamb...the game loads so much faster now and I'm not seeing the problems I was having.

I seem to be having a similar problem with my Madden 08 for the PC. I'm running on XP and all minimum requirements have been met. The AutoPlay brings up the fancy Vince Young (Should be LT) introduction screen. I select Installation (sub tab Install). The screeen disappears, my system clocks for 10 seconds and then.....nothing.....ever. I let it run for an hour and nothing came up. Any ideas?

Make sure you have flash installed. It should install Flash if you don't have it installed but try uninstalling any old versions then download and install the latest versions from Adobe's site. And btw the issue I was having was after it was installed. The problem happened when I went to play the game, but if you saw my previous post in that if you have the same problem try renaming the Music directory in the Madden 08 folder and this should do the trick.

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit and I had difficulty getting Adobe Flash to install correctly. Did some research and found the answer to my problem here:
Adobe - Macromedia Flash Player

Installed Flash under "Administrator" and solved my issue.
