Guild Wars- Eye of the North

so, who will be getting gwen when it comes out tommorow?

I have a few friends that have been saying the 3 they have (prophecies, factions, nightfall) are fine and they don't want to spend money on another, but i never bought factions or nightfall, since they seemed like side-storys to me. Yet, Eye of the North continues along the main story line so i will be picking it up tommorow, who else will be?

I certainly will. I played the preview event and thought it was wonderful. Honestly though, if you can get ahold of the other campaignes, do it. There really add a whole other demension of play to the series. Totally different games. I'd get nightfall before factions.

Teh greatest thing about the series is how much it has evolved. Its hard to explain to someone all the changes and the depth that has been added. The other two campaigns really make it a different game than it started out. Maybe not different, but much more refined.

As far a GWEN goes, the new missions and the dungeons are much better than anything before. The character development seems to be on par with Nightfall, and the art is beautiful. The new races are great as well, and the minigames seem like fun. A big improvement they seem to have made is in quest rewards. You no longer get 100 gold to complete a difficult quest, but more like 1 plat+. An hour or two in a dungeon got me 5 plat and some interesting weapons as well.

haha i actually just took it out and put in the quote from 2 moons
I didn't really like grendel, was kinda hard to understand (and i'm a pretty good reader, i finished it in about a day but i had to think alot lol)\

as viking said above, definetly get nightfall. i didnt care much for factions, but seeing as how gwen has a free key for it (&nightfall) you can give it a whirl before buying.
a lot of peeps dont realise that this a true expansion instead of another addon, while i havent played gw in a couple of months, i will be buying this & starting up again - i think the price is a little steep for an expansion & have considered waiting for price drop.

It takes an understanding of the many different philosophies to understand Grendel and the other characters (as well as an understanding of all the drugs John Gardner was on at the time he wrote it

). Honestly though, if you can dig up some Cliff Notes (do they make those anymore?) or something as an aid, you might enjoy the book. Man is it funny though. Anyway....

@ Mike. The problem it seems with the series is that the price never comes down until the next "chapter" is released. Personally, based on the preview, I think $40 is steep, but still worth it. There really is a lot to do with the dungeons and whatnot, and it does lead into GW2 (the most anticipated game for me to date... but in 2009...).

My only problem is going to be prying myself away from BioShock...

i think $40 is an okay asking price, i mean we don't have to pay montly fees so thats where they make their money

paying $40 for a game > paying $20 for a game and then paying $15/month

hope i can convince the wife, i got a ps3 recently & she gets a little bent out of shape if i talk about spending any $$ on gaming for pc

. this will probably last for another month.
biggest problem - it will be hard to sneak it by her as she plays gw on occasion & will know what is going on

Ah, the one bad thing about have a wife who games... can't pull the wool over her eyes.
