Orange Box

Anyone played this game, I read a little in Maximum PC and it was pretty interesting. On a scale of 1 to 10 is it worth getting?

I won't be ordering the orange box personally.As i have HL2 & episode one already.

They should at least be a discount on the TF2,Portal and episode 2.

I don't like the idea of paying for hl2 & e1 for a second time.Just to give them away as Gifts.

At $50 your still paying less for portal/tf2/hl2ep2/hl2/hl2ep1 than had you just purchased portal/tf2/hl2.

$50 is not an unreasonable amount to pay for hl2/ep2/portal in my opinion.

The only place you can get gameplay information on anything except TF2 (as purchasers of the orange box got to play the beta starting on the 17th) is from magazines or websites that valve let play the game.

It will not be released until october and which day in october I forget.

I know that... but im the only one in my family & freinds thats into games (and pc's for that matter).So i don't have anyone to pass on the gifts from steam..so it will leave me stuck with a wasted hl2 & E1.

Yup same "problem" here, the removal of the black box was a lame move by Valve.

I end up buying the orange box, because I want both ep2, portal and tf2.

Anyway looking forward to EP2 A LOT, i LOVED EP1, so much fun.

If EP2 really is going to be $29.99 I'll wait till it's in the "bargain bin" before I purchase it . I've waited this long, and I don't think it's worth the extra $10.00.

It's not that it's cheaper to get the Orange Box vs getting each separately, it's that Valve has priced each component high in order to make it 'look' like the Orange Box is a bargain. Then they go and make it the only collective offering by getting rid of the Black Box, so you're left with only 2 choices. That being: you pay to much for the parts you want, looking like a dumbass, and knowing it too, or be a dumbass for buying the same game again, with the option of giving part of it away so as to not make you look like such a dumbass to your friends. Either way, you know you are a dumbass for having chosen either path.

Except Necrosis that is.

Believe what you may, I don't think it being $50 is too much, nor do I care. I'd pay $50 for just Episode 2, extremely high quality game play always comes out of Valve.
Any way, Oct 10th, its going to own.
TF2 is pretty demanding, I'll be buying a new CPU to get things playable.
