I've been watching my son, daughter-in-law, and a friend playing the first several minutes of MP. It looks, really, really, really good so far. At least the MP does. They haven't even bothered with SP yet.

And, they got the package with Master Chief's Helmet.

It sucks

that I don't have a 360 to play it.

All the reviews I've seen make it out to be awesome, perhaps people are all playing it rather than posting here about it

I'm not buying it... I mean, the campaign is too short, I haven't played Halo 2 so bleh, I won't get anything.

Then the graphics to me are just subpar and insulting after FPSs like Bioshock and even if the multiplayer is great, its nothing I haven't experienced on the PC.

I'll get it once its in the bargain bin I guess...

Just beat it on Heroic difficulty.... played from 9PM EST till 3:30AM EST

The game was all it was hyped up to be, and more.

I waited until last night to pick it up (8pm), but I didn't get a chance until about 3 hours ago to play it (12am). And in 3 hours I've already finished 3 missions. Given that there is 9 missions... that's a good indicator as to how short this game is.

So far it's been pretty fun. Not the best game I've ever played, and anyone who says otherwise clearly hasn't played ANY other games.. such as FryCry, BioShock, or the TimeShift demo. Yes it's fun, and yes it looks nice, but I can't shake that "Halo 2 on steroids" feeling. There are better looking, more involved games out there (see aforementioned BioShock). For me it's just not the knock my socks off, "Oh my GOD! This is the best game ever!" game that everyone seems to be hyping this to be.

Is that bad though? Nope. Again, it's a fun game, has a steady, well paced story that's involving, and it has fun multi-player. Everything I want in a game of this type.

imo, i think this game was designed for multiplayer only......

the entire game is much MUCH to short..... it's rediculious..... i mean seriously when you can complete the mission fairly quick and easy, GoW was longer.. and that was a short game...

IMO, MS dropped the ball considerably in single player/coop..... multiplayer looks fairly decent though....

Disappointed as to how short it was. This seems to be a trend with certain games these days and it's not solely a 360 issue. Heavenly sword is another short but sweet game.
I reckon the right length should be similar to resistance fall of man which lasted nearly twice as long as halo's solo mode did.

i have to admit that now that ive finished it...its way to short.

multiplayer however will last some time for sure.

the visuals range from "am i supposed to be impressed?" to "holy shit that looks cool"
there are some suburb looking visuals in areas of the game.

Seems there's another issue with Halo 3 where the system fails to read the DVD. Check it out HERE.

Customers are reporting a variety of problems, from minor reading issues, say one or 2 campaign maps only, to reading issues right at the start. Also, it doesn't matter what unit it is: new, old, Core through Elite, having it vertical or horizontal... all have a problem. Bad DVDs, or game bug?

What's interesting for me is that I had this error pop up once while trying to boot up the disc. It worked when I reloaded the DVD, so I just chocked it up to a fluke bad read. Now I'm a little worried.

I'ts been a joy to play but the jaggies on the horizontal plain have ruined the experience. Sometimes they are downright distracting. I though this was a HD release. It says "HDTV 720p/1080i/1080p" on the back of the game box but it looks like 640 ugh. WTF?

HOLY CRAP! Guys I just found out somthing sweet!

Even if you don't have a Xbox Live Gold membership you can play with your friends online! I was goofing off in Forge and next thing I know one of my collage buddies was playing with me. A few hours later we got off and I tryed to join a normal Halo 3 game and it says i still don't have a gold membership.

Check it out!

One of the best games I have played in a while.

If you think the graphics are sub-par just wait till you watch your replays.

Took me 2 days on Legendary by myself to beat it and I'm glad it has finally ended.
Multi is already awesome and smooth as butter online. Everything just looks beautiful and runs greats. Sure gears is "flashier" but Halo3 has the perfect balance for multiplayer.

Go out and rent it, buy it what ever. If you have a 360 and do not have this game then I can not figure out what is wrong with you.

Single player was a little short but everything else about it rocked. This game rules both Gears and R6 for multi.

Check out your replays with the free cam on explosions and partical effect before passing judgement on visuals.

Yep, separate issue though. In that case it was the way the Limited Edition case is designed, and the discs would just pop up and off the.. um.. "nipple" holding them in place.

In this case, the discs are actually bad. Regular, Limited, Legendary... all of them that came from this one batch have read problems. Some severe, some not (like in my case).

Don't need good eyes to see this.
I just made some adjustments on the digital camera and got close up shots of my screen with these in game pics.

My two year old 850XT PE would smooth these edges pronto but a 3core cpu with a X1000 gpu can't? I'm not bitchen about the game, I love it but this is NOT a HD product IMHO.

I fail to see the relevance between a game not implementing AA, or is, but at a lower rate, with a game not being an HD product because it's not using AA.

Yes, the fact that it's not broadcasting in 720p and up natively can be an argument against it not being a 'true' HD product, but not because it's not using AA. The 2 have nothing to do with each other.

I dunno about that Tipstaff, if Halo 3 couldn't run smooth at HDTV resolutions then it's unlikely Bungie would add AA to the game which would hurt FPS just as much.
