Xbox360 Support/Repair.. (fellow canadians.. please confirm)

OK, talked to a friend online through the xbox360 while playing Geometry evolved...

finished, used the controller to shutdown the console... then got up and left for 30 minutes..

came back, used the controller to start up.. and boom... 3 flashing red lights.... and what'da know.... 40 days after i purchased it..

So went through all the fixes.. nothing worked...

ok,

phone xbox360 support...


ok

warranty ended? wtf? in january 2007... ok.... that's screwed up considering i purchased it only 40 days ago.. that's august....

wait... ok... 3 year warranty for the issue i'm having after purchase date.... (phew)... sorta...


Get through the system to get a repair order sent..

and they want my address..

So i give them the following

Building #
Street (mainstreet)... (there is no number.. just MAINSTREET)
Town,Province,Canada
Postal Code

(also consider that i put in Alternative Address with a BOX number)

Along with phone number and email..


and i get the following responce back

"We cannot verify your address, therefore we cannot send for repair... please give us another address"

Thinking.. ok.. wtf.... try another... tried 3....

And then they went and talked to the superviser....

Responce..

"We cannot accept Postal Codes, please give us another address without postal code"

NOW someone... anyone.. that has gotten warranty work or repairs done on there xbox360s.... PLEASE.. tell me i'm not going insane and that there system is wtf messed up...

I've been on the phone trying to convince them that a postal code DOESN'T MEAN BOX NUMBER.... they keep saying that a postal code means it'll go into a box.. which they cannot ship to... WTF.... told them to REMOVE the box Number.... just leave the postal code....

They told me who would be shipping to me.. and i've received ALOT of packages from these people.. and they still insist that they need a "zip code"... but a postal code will not work....

1 hour and 20 minutes later.... i've gotten nowhere.. wrote down the refference number..... got off the phone..... took a leak i REALLY needed to take.... and now i'm totally not sure wtf to do?

How the hell did you guys get your xbox360's fixed?

talked to the friend ... and he says that according to his xbox360 ... that My LIVE account is still stating that i'm online.. and still playing Geometry wars.... and even accepting messages....

wtf is going on...

First of all MS customer service is a fucking joke. Second you live account can be accessed online on xbox.com so you can still send and receive messages through the xbox site loggin to your live account that might explain why your friend is seeing you online and can send messages to you.

Just phone back and tell them you're in Canada and that we use postal codes here. Also note that they don't deliver to PO Boxes. (Just checking because you said you put in an alternative address with a box number)

If all else fails just dial back until you get a sane tech support / customer service person. When I had problems with my 360 I phoned and they approved within 10 minutes. The box itself arrived 2 days later without any issues. Heck they even found the side entrance of my house that I requested it delivered to so they definitely can deliver the box to Canadians like us.

Well i know for a fact they can diliver to me..

the problem is.. that they were basically stating that they couldn't deliver to any Postal Codes..... which is a load of shit..

i'm phoning again tomorrow.... i just got so pissed off about the hole ordeal... i even asked WHERE THE HELL IN CANADA i could receive the sucker and they didn't have an answer...

told them to remove the BOX number .... but they couldn't even confirm an address in saskatoon.. WTF

Judas, I assume you have a unit that has the hard drive, right? Did they get you to remove the hard drive, and boot the system to see if it was still pooched?

Edit: BTW, when you get the 'ring of death', what color is the light on the power supply? Orange (which is normal), or red?

I called for my Premium freezing problems and they registered my console (haven't previously done so) over the phone with my home address, no problems. ~2 weeks later i received a replacement console, new or refurb don't know, cost me 110 CAD . I have since bought an Elite, so i'll be ebaying the Premium soon.

Now i have to figure out why when i registered the Elite and had 2 s/n's on my account, all of a sudden it says i don't have any devices registered??????????????????? Seams like it happened after i ordered the data migration kit. They better not screw me over with my s/n's...

actually i ran through all of those things.... even tried to blow out the inside of the xbox360 with a can of compressed air.. (no dust came flying out which i find somewhat odd)..

PSU light is green.... 3 red lights with the top right hand light being not lit..

why do these guys keep asking for a zip code?

and emediately after asking for one.. i keep asking "AM I TALKING TO someone for CANADA SUPPORT?" and i keep getting the answer YES canada support we are...

and then i ask, why are you asking for Zip Codes?

They say that it's required information for the shipping address..

and i reply back that, Canada doesn't HAVE zip codes, ONLY Postal Codes....

And then i still got the reply back that they cannot use postal codes to ship as that pertains to a Postal Box Number..

and i say NO, a BOX Number is the postal box number, a Postal CODE is a required shipping information for the location.... they are completely different things altogether....

"Well sorry sir, but we cannot varify your address without the zip code"

at the end of this all, i'll be really exceptionally upset moreso then i am if i get back a broken product or if it breaks within a short time..

bad enough they state the warranty is already up.. which it shouldn't be..

what manufacturer STARTS the warranty countdown the minute it is done being manufactured? How stupid is this.... so if i buy any electronic equipment from a store, and that package has never been opened, never been used, and i open the box and it states a manufacturing date on it.... and it older then the entire warranty period that it states it has.... then everyone is screwed? That sounds pretty damn shoddy.

I just bought a 360 about a month ago. I have no idea why. The day after I bought it I called a few of my buds to play online. They all had the red ring of death. All 3 of them. Thank god I have a nice PC. Oh and Halo3 ain't shit compared to Gears of War.

Any new developments? Did you previously register your console online? At xbox.com when you fill in your customer info, it clearly says State/Province and ZIP/Postal Code...

Yes i filled that in the moment the xbox360 crashed..

and emediately after filling it in..... i was greeted with the "warranty has expired"..... which sucks obviously...

But they orginally used that information and still say it's not verified....

you show as offline now man. BTW i'm in the process of fixing a my first 360 atm, i got a backup 360 core in case it can't be fixed, got tired of waiting for MS to pick it up for repairs.

well wish me luck.....

i was told there would be charges for pickup.. even by microsoft.. but apparently thier little slip they gave me provided free pickup and dilivery back... ???

they are saposed to be picking up my xbox360 tomorrow morning.... nice

3 business days back to microsoft.. and then i was told 6 weeks for it to be repaired grr
