I agree with everything you say dipstick apart from the PS3 being the "better" unit overall - on a build quality level, certainly, but I don't agree on a technical level. The Ps3 is quite unbalanced, with the extremely powerful Cell CPU, but the RSX is lacking technically as ive detailed before (lower bandwidth, no DX10 support, no HDR, weak shader support etc). Possiblities for the PS3? great AI coding with all the processing power, I can see this being extremely useful particularly for RTS games but do any of us really like playing RTS games on a console in the first place?
The 360 is much more balanced with a unifed shader architecture from ATI's XENON chip. That said, there will certainly be loads of headroom to get out of the PS3, as they did with the PS2, making it do things people wouldn't have thought possible when it was first released. The only concern here is the PS2 was relatively easy to program for, ive read companies claiming the cost of development is just too high for the PS3, so it might end up being a highly financed game backing gets grade A support for this console while quite a few developers just develop for the 360 or wii. Everything aside, unless you are a movie buff, its all about the games, and right now the 360 has a vastly superior catalogue. Hopefully when we revisit this, next year at this time, it might be slightly more balanced, and im sure by then MS will have the 360 reliability issues sorted. |

Yea, sorry I meant better in terms of reliability and user friendliness on hd upgrading and such. I've never once bought a game for the PS3 that was also out for the Xbox. They simply look and run better on the 360...no doubt.
I've also been reading about how dev's hate coding for it which sucks big time since it means super crappy ports. There are some very nice looking games on the horizon for it (like uncharted, killzone 2, etc) but there not enough of them and they are still too far out

I have to say 360. I like the software platform the Sony runs better (and the fact that you can run Linux on it), but the XBox has the games, and that's what it's about. I also really, really want Mario Galaxy, so... Wii?

Mass Effect was reason alone, but throw in Bioshock and Halo3 (I guess) and its a pretty obvious choice. Not to mention GTA4 is coming in less then six months. Coupled with LIVE I don't see how anyone can even ask the question IMHO.

The 360's been out longer and it's better for it. I think you'll need to compare the 360 as it is now to a ps3 one or two years down the road. Will it ever catch up to the 360's head start? Who knows, but right now that early arrival is making the 360 a better choice.
