Xbox360 Warranty (is this normal?)

Purchased August 23rd 2007

Someone explain it to me... even the xbox360 support don't seem to have a clue, other then to continue to tell me that there is no warranty left on it..

They ARE (according to the xbox service people) Making warranty for the 3 red lights affective from the date of august 23rd... HOWEVER they state that there is no warranty left on anything else.

I've even asked for a fax number in which i could FAX the orginal reciept to them to provide proof of a purchase date.... and verify it.

What's even more halarious is that one i finally got the bastards to ignore verifying my address..... received my repair box..... i phoned them up again to tell them i have received the box... you can now verify that address.. and they STILL said they could not...

at which point i had to hang up before i grew mentally unstable enough to reach threw the phone and jam the xbox360 repair box down that asses throat.

well....

nearly 2 weeks of waiting...

and i received my xbox30 back NOT repaired

heres a quote of the message:

strange to see an automated email from microsoft with a typo in it. normally those things are really well checked......

Yeah, the question is Judas, obviously you opened it. I thought you knew if you did that MS won't give you any support.

Could be worse, a guy I knew sent his in for repair and he had modified the DVD drive so he could play copies. He got himself in a bit of bother over that one. Not the brightest thing to do.

i didn't open it..

i haven't even touched the face plate..

low and behold... i started screaming at the people i orginally bought it from, and they fully refunded me the full amount after taking it back today... They opened it all up and checked, and noticed there was a microsoft sticker missing when you pull the face plate off... which i had never done to even look, on top of it all, it DOES look like after you pull it off, that someone was screwing around with it...

anyways, the people i bought it from are now screaming at thier suppliers.... i'm glad i'm done with this BS...

Just this week here in Metro Atlanta, we've had three GameStop stores robbed. One is very near where I eat a lot of my meals.

In this first case, the thief used duct tape to bind the manager and two employees. The stupid thief actually bound BOTH the nose and mouth of the manager (age 21) and the manager died of suffocation while the thief grabbed up what he wanted. Then the thief stole the manager's car and took off. THANKFULLY, this monster was caught a few days later. He left his fingerprints all over everything and has a prior record.

In the other two cases, the cops think it's the same guy. He entered the stores and asked to buy an XBOX 360. When the package was brought up to him, pulled a black revolver, grabbed the package and left to a waiting car.

So far, they don't have a clue as to who this guy is but, in the first instance, the getaway driver hit several cars as they were leaving.

It's insane that there are people who have no moral conscience and do this kind of stuff. It's a sad commentary on the human race.

Anyway, to Judas, it does sound like someone tampered with that package at some point. Wouldn't even put it past whoever does the shipping. It could be anyone along the line.

course i'm also more interested in grabbing a nintendo Wii considering metroid prime 3 should provide some damn good entertainment

Be sure to check the manufacture date before you buy it (it's on the serial number sticker, which you can see via the serial number 'window' on the side of the box). Preferably, get a system made within or after August 07. Reason being is that these 'usually' are the ones that have the 65nm chip, and have the extended GPU heatsink on them... the same ones most of the refurbs come with these days.

Not a garuantee that it will, but it's better than nothing (by this I mean they 'may' still be 90nm, but it should have the new sink on it) . Of note, unlike what was being reported, not all Elites have them. Unlike the Premiums, anything with a July 07 or after date 'usually' has the above changes.

You really are a sucker for punishment Well, the 360 is a great gaming device, its reliability issues really drag it down though.

As for the current situation, I think you unfortunately seem to been a victim of the console equivalent of a "Cut and Shut", basically somehow that retailer got hold of a refurb unit, and thus the serial number was one from an older machine, even if some of the components were newer, a damn scandal though, if refrubs are popping up as "new" in the retail channel though.

Good luck whatever you decide to buy next, be it another 360 or Wii

OMG Judas and i though i had it bad..damn!! Good thing they didn't pick up my broken premium since it did not have the warranty sticker in the front, i only noticed that when i opened it up to fix it myself. really wierd since it was a launch console...weird..
