Jericho PC demo really messed up. help! and a question PLS!!!!
Amd Athlon 4400 x2 2.2ghz
2X 1900 crossfires radeons Xtreme gamer creative soundcard a8r mvp32 deluxe motherboard 2GB OCZ 4000 ram kit. i have this demo installed on a freshly formatted drive. ALL drivers are up to date- for chipset- video sound CPU - i am currently not overclocking anything. i have no virus' on my computer. i am using crap cleaner (actual name) which keeps my system nice an tidy. disk is defragmented twice a week. i took off page file so the game would run stricly through ram but that only helped a VERY little next to nothing amount. im running win xp 32 bit with sp2 - windows is fully up to date. ================================ THE PROBLEM WITH DEMO ================================ Well basically i downloaded the game demo from the official website and installed it with no problems. Then i started the game - the menu popped up. Then it stalled for about 40 seconds..the animation in the background stalled as well..but the music was playing with no worries. i couldnt not load the game simply because it stalled for too long. now i DID run this game with a page file as well- which was set for both drives with a recommended size of 4gb. the game sounds are heard very well while the game stalls - but they do nto loop or crackle or make any indication of my soundcard- as all drivers are up todate- and i do NOT have eax enabled anywhere- including the creative audio settings. i have Direct x fully updated. 9c- august 2007- i even tried lowering acceleration of sound and video on seperate occasions- to no avail. ====================== i went into CCCenter and took off AA AF- Catalyst ai adaptive aa and i even took off crossfire mode to see if this would help..i was actually able to get into the game..but it still randomly stalled..very annoying and frustrating because i wanna buy the game but i refuse to buy games that are all fragged up- to the point where i cannot play. plus i dont want the guy at eb games telling me i get no refund and or store credit..i dont have the money for this. i even ran safe mode...same thing- game started but it started to stall... i ahve already verified that there is nothing with my RAM itself and or CPU- all readings are nominal (hehe i love that word) i even ran prime 95 for a few hours- no worries. I never overclocked my gpu - ever- on either card. other games- COD 4, timeshift, bioshock fear condemned oblivion- all those games great fps - NO BS whatsoever! they are enjoyable and fun! but- stranglehold- half life 2 and source junk- stalker and now this game- garbage (pretty sure they are great games!) but im saying garbage based on the problems they entail! ============== question- im planning on installing win xp 64 on the other drive- within a reserved amount of space. then i will install Hl 2 and jericho within this drive and use the 64 bit environment. Do you think this might help me out since i have a 64 bit processor? someone on a stranglehold forum said they did this method, they had the EXACT problem with HL 2 ep 1 &2, and it worked out great for them. i do realize its two different systems..but it seems to shed some light..i am praying! ============== thanks in advance and game on! it just sucks that a game as awesome as this (and made by CLIVE BARKER (fave author)) is not working out for me NLOL (not laughing out loud) im COL (crying out LOUD) |

That often does help. I think you're on the right track. Keep us posted.

You could also temporarily switch to the onboard sound then no sound at all to further eliminate a sound card as the problem.
I did get the same issue when I forced AF and some other stuff but it sounds like you checked for that already.

wow...oh no..still messed hehe- not giving up!!
well i turned off all AA AAA AF- crossfire- everything- it goes into intro (the in game intros) and bam..same crap.
so now find out VIA CPU-Z that i have my ram setup wrong ![]() well when i bought my ram i didnt know squat about dual channel and all of that. the associate told me to place the ram in slots 1&3- slot 1 being the one beside the cpu and 3 being the 3rd one down from that. so i did. well seems for 1 year now i had it all wrong..the book says to stay colour coded ![]() i have 1 stick in blue and 1 in black slot..great..so when i get back i will switch that up- this def affects my overclock - considering i am not utilizing that extra pipeline!!! anyways rock on ill keep posted- crysis still runs kicks ass hehehe |
