Hellgate London! waste of space
Just been testing this game out
and yes it does have dx10 out of the box and yes it does have extensive new features that where not avalible in the demo problem is and can anyone else verify this becuse its mind boggling... in dx10 mode all features enabled its laggy as hell, the exact same dx10 crysis mouse lag is there and also your character model looks very very blurry and i think i was only pulling about 20fps wich imho wich is just not accseptible and its not like crysis where low frames is smooth either. now on the other hand in dx9 mode the game runs at a constant 60+fps and the character models look way way better and also the aa looks better... can anyone playing this game verify my findings becuse so far dx10 is just a huge dissapointment ohh hell yeah crysis looks awsome in dx10 and this game looks crap in dx10 mode and awsome in dx9 mode its just very weird and im so fustrated... can anyone remember when dx10 was first announced they said that dx10 was going to be faster than dx9 ???? yeah right lol

I was with you and believing you all the way through till the above ^^ You think this game looks awesome in dx9 mode? (I don't have dx10 to comment) Unless the demo of the game is based on Alpha code, are you ok? Perhaps you need to get some sleep or something. The game looks awful. Or, at least the demo does.

trust me man when you see this game on your system in dx10 mode then go to dx9 mode you will see the character models are far crisper
and the general playability is far better. only thing on dx10 that looks better and not by a long shot aswell its minor is the textures. you will see when you get it, and yes it was final code full retail game. |

If that is the case, I have no idea what they were doing all this time developing the game. It's a Diablo clone in 3D graphics that looks worse than Diablo 2 and to top that the DX10 version looks worse than the DX9?
Feels like the developers finished the game after 3 months and then just collected paychecks. The above sentence is of course not based on any facts about the specific development process. Please do not sue me.

I won't buy it. I refuse to support ad driven games.
I have watched BF2142 pretty closely. You still pay full price for the game and the developers get to reap additional profits while poorly supporting the game. Not to mention things like "booster packs" and expansions are not free. This game actually looked pretty cool until I read it had ads in it. |

The adds are in the train stations, they are mere posters nothing more. There isnt anything animated or anything, mostly Nvidia, Darkhorse ads. |

Doesn't matter where the ads are or that they don't bother you. It's the principal that matters. I don't support ads. I don't want games to be like TV. I don't need companies trying to push me their crap every second of every day. Gaming to me is about having fun and getting away from life for a bit. If ad's become a part of all games then I will just stop gaming. I don't game that much anymore so it wouldn't bother me that the developers are missing out on my $59.99.

There are known issues with the DX10 client. It runs slower (ie. lower framerates). Hell, as of this last minor patch there are known issues with the DX9 client, such as a huge curtain of fog in some sewar areas. By this I mean you could walk into a smaller room in a sewar, and have each part of that room have this thick grey curtain. Pass through that curtain, and 10 feet away is another curtain. Don't know what it is, but I've tried every setting, and nothing fixes it. Other than the "Memory Exhausted" error I never had any issues graphically with the game. Now, I got 2 issues.
Oh, and it should be pointed out that if you are running Vista, it doesn't matter if you are using the DX10 or DX9 client, as Hellgate just runs slower in Vista... period, but the game tends to run better in XP. Edit: OH, almost forgot. My buds at ATI referred me to a post on their site about an issue with the HD2xxx series. They recommend you go back to Cat 7.9. So if anyone has one of those puppies, and are having issues, you may as well give that a try.

This is another game with ads in it? Christ, I had little interest in this game to begin with now I have zero interest in it. In fact I will go out of my way to discourage people from playing it for that sole reason.

It's ain't that bad having ads in train station but once we accept it, then it'll be more and more ads supports . That would be pretty annoy. I play games to escape real life, so having ads on game make me think otherwise.
Imagine having ads on Mass Effect, UT2, Might&Magic, etc. Alots of people in chat from multiplayer are having issue with DX10, it would be best to disable it for now. I blame EA because they want money now since the last quarter wasn't doing well, they're impatience. Last edited by technonerd; Nov 2, 2007 at 09:20 AM. |

This is the first game I've played where the ads haven't been (edit: my bad.. blame it on auto correct) blatantly obvious, and be totally destructive to the games atmosphere. The ads actually look like they've been on a wall for years.. withering away, stained, torn, or what not.
Hell.. to be honest, I don't even pay attention to them. I didn't even know they were there until someone mentioned them. Edit: of note, seeing as how the majority of these "Memory Exhausted" errors seem to happen right when people are zoning into stations, it makes me wonder if there is a common link here as this is the only place the ads are being viewed.

Yeah he did haha.
None the less I noticed the ads but really they kind of fit the time line I mean the only people that have ads in the game are companies associated with the Hellgate: London license in some form or another. Even that mythos.com? ad is from the developers so honestly it's not all that bad.

oops
Auto correct... baad boy! Battlefield 2142. Now there is a perfect example of bad ads. I mean.. here we are, playing on the battlefield of what is supposed to be 2142. Life in BF2142 continued to move on unlike in Hellgate where it all just stopped when all hell broke loose, however the ads in BF2142... why are they always so fresh? To me, that is a distraction. Oh, and while on BF2142, there's another perfect example of how ingame advertising CAN effect game performance.
