MAD CATZ SLEH-0005 Steering Wheel with PS2

Ji,

I'm a newbie at this so I am haping that I am posting in the right place, my apologies if I'm not.

My son has a PS2 and someone has lent me a Mad Catz SLEH-0005 steering wheel for PS1. They said that it would work with PS2 and to try it. The console does not seem to recognise the wheel at all. I would appreictae some advice on whether I have a setting of some sort wrong, if the wheel just won't work with PS2, or if eh wheel is broken.

Any help would be much appreciated.
