PS3 2.0 Firmware video streaming issues anyone?
Hmm something funny, I have converted my entire video liabrary to .mp4 with Video9 to stream over WMP11 to PS3. Transcoding on the fly worked, but it would lag at times a little and couldnt forward or rewind. I was trying to play a music video I converted over and now it says corrupt, it plays fine on my PC. In addtion, I just converted another video with video9 and now that says it corrupt also on my PS3 (but I never tried it with the other firmware). Did the update break some of my video streaming? hmmmmmmm... others please report any issues, much appreciated!
Edit: I just checked my other videos, I think sony DID break something. Any video I converted over now will not work, the few mpeg2 and mpeg4 vids I had before didnt need to be converted but I did anyways do still work. But anything lets say .avi or .wmv converted to .mp4 will NOT work with this firmware. This is bullshit, is Sony applying more DRM tactics to the PS3?

BiGBrOwNPimpsta.....
I had the same problems from 1.8 to 2.0, but i haven't converted any of my AVI's to mp4's. I just had a whole bunch of AVI's in a shared folder. But, i think this might still help you with the corrupted data issue. On Nero MediaHome, change the settings for ~Transcoding - Video File Transcoding, from auto-detect to MPEG1. That helped me, hopefully it'll allow you to play back your MP4s. But on another note... When i play my AVI's i have no option to fast forward or rewind. Do you know of a way to change that without re-encoding them to an MP4 format? I converted a couple of files to MP4, but it would take days to convert all the AVI's to MP4. |

I didn't bother trying nero media home again, but it will probably work. I do not want to transcode on the fly because it is slower and cannot forward. Funny thing is my MP3s stream properly but before it didn't. This is the thread where I am bitching at abotu the problem with others:
Re: IF YOU ARE STREAMING VIDEOS INTO YOUR PS3 DONT DOWNLOAD THAT V.2.0 Update!! - PLAYSTATION®3 General - PlayStation.com Forums The only solution to this is to revert to the older firmware, and that is not possible thanks to Sony. |

this is WEIRD... some files play fine others dont wanna play at all. All reencoded with redkawa and I reencoded them again after 2.01. Something is definitely up.

interesting. I havent tried that myself since i have both a PS3 and a Vista MCE PC hooked up to my computer. I use the PC for video on the tv and ps3 for gaming. I will change all that when the announced divx on ps3 comes out. Then i just load my the ps3 HD with movies and watch them through that.
