Ok.. its starting to bug me and I want to try to fix this problem. In Team Fortress 2 you can upload your own custom avatars and when you get killed you see that icon next to the players name who killed you. Problem is, I've lost ALL my icons for everyone and myself. All I see is a blank area now. I am assuming the file is corrupt and I tried fixing it by going to the games properties/local files/ verify integrity of game cache and I even defraged the cache files. No help. The latest update didn't fix the problem either.
Anyone have any ideas what I can do to get those icons back? I miss those since they add a little character to each player. I've checked with others on the servers and they can still see my personal icon and others so I know its on my end only. |

Anyone got a idea what's going on with my problem?.. I've tried renaming my Team Fortress 2 folder in steamapps and the game recreated the folder for me. I thought that would 'refresh' the files and fix it.
You don't suppose I'll have to uninstall it all together and then reinstall to fix this do ya?.. |

Have you tried uploading your avatar to Steam again, or perhaps a different avatar just to test with? If that doesn't work, you might try deleting all local TF2 content through Steam, then redownloading the game. I know it sucks, but if you just do it before you go to bed... If your connection is too slow or you want to try something else, you could try backing up your game using Steam, uninstalling Steam completely, then downloading and installing it again.

simple, actually.
it happens when your not logged into the steam friends network. just make sure your logged in and you should see them.

Yeah.. sorry for not following up with my question here. (I had asked it on a few forums) Turns out it was as simple as turning on auto logon to friends like Dark Lord mentions. I don't even use that chat function and friend lists so one day I turned it off and didn't think it was related when I finally noticed the avatars missing. There are hardly any instructions on fine details like that to be found.
edit: Thanks for the suggestion though Prospero. Last edited by Pluvious; Nov 28, 2007 at 08:13 AM. |
