Crysis on my system
Hi guyz
I have some questions about CRYSIS on my system because i plan to buy a new card this month. Well my system: amd athlon x2 4800+ @ 2.5 ghz, 2gb of ram ddr2 @ 800mhz, 8800 ULTRA 768mb ( the card that im buying ) and a psu 600w and windows xp. Will this game play fine on my system??? About how many fps can it reach, if someone has the same pc like me may know... Thnx in advance =) Last edited by sylar1337; Nov 21, 2007 at 04:29 PM. |

I have a system the should perform similar to yours and the game runs fine.
Just remember to turn programs like Folding@Home and other CPU using programs off before playing. It will try to make full use of your CPU but tries to play nice with other software which leads to some serious stuttering even if your distrubuted computing clients are set to lowest priority. I had some serious performance issues where the game would just lock up and hang for 30 seconds or so before picking right back up where I left off. Upon disabling Folding@Home I had perfect performance on "Medium" settings.

Sylar, you can try using the DX10 in xp tweak that worked for the demo.
Not tried it myself as my gfx card would melt. ActionTrip - External Link

that DX10 tweak in XP is mostly nonsense tbh.
@ thread starter, the game will run fine on that system but you wont be running at a high resolution and I doubt anything more than a few settings will be running at high or very high (certainly won't be the shader setting thats for sure). if you are running in vista, I would personally just append the shortcut link with a "-dx9" (forces DX9 mode) and crank them all to "high", runs a lot better (25-40% faster) and looks just as well as it would in DX10 with the settings much lower. This is a great guide on optimising the game TweakGuides.com - Crysis Tweak Guide |

yeah like Z said also dx10 is pointless at the moment in crysis even if you had system capable of good frames its the Mouse/controller lag that will most likely kill you...
DX9+tweaks is the only way to play this game at the moment as there is better frames and no mouselag. |

yeah the mouselag issue kills it in DX10, even with 40fps+, just always there. I hear they are patching it tho.

Is anyone else playing it on PC with the USB Wired XBOX 360 Controller?
The main issue with doing so is that there's no way to map a button to use Prone. I still have to be near my keyboard to do that.

Dyre, get Xpadder, The Official Xpadder Homepage so then you can map a button to a keyboard press, solving your problem

In fact, I WISH the left joystick could be set up to TOGGLE the Crouch mode rather than have to hold it down while, at the same time, moving the character about. I've used XBCD in the past and like it, too. But, like I say, the problem here is that everything is already in use. About the only movement that isn't is a straightdown press of the HAT. And, that's REALLY tricky to accomplish.
