well as this game will be released in a week or so and some early copies are already available I wondered if those of you that have spent a bit of time with this one could post up your impressions....

I hope to add my impressions too before long.

So what do you guys that have played it think? over hyped? under hyped? or right on?

From what I understand, it's now 4 CD's, not 6.

pc.ign.com has a preview for it, they say it's average.

There is more to the game than just the game. They filmed 2 hours of new footage just for the game!!!

It shows what's going on with Ghost and Naomi during Reloaded. Reloaded is focused on Neo and Trinity. So this makes the game actually like a 4th movie, except it's interactive.

That olone is worth a "purchase".

The only reason the PC version is 4 disks (or 6) is because they probably optimised the real video for PC's. So it's really like a 2 disk game, and 2 disks of movie. I don't care I'm getting the Xbox version. A) MY PC won't handle it. B) The Xbox version supports 720i HDTV!

10 minutes in and so far I'm in love

maybe because I'm a matrix fan but the fighting scheme just kicks @ss IMO. The camera has been great so far and the whole matrix setting that I can move and play in is great! Game is set at 16x aniso and 4x fsaa and not missing a beat on the r9700 pro

Saw some guy just a bit ago whining because the game ran like crap on his Ti4600. Now I have no idea what settings or resolution he was using or even if he was serious so don't hold me to some other IRC chat dudes complaints

and yeah, 4cd's and a 3Gb install

well....compared with other new games(splinter cell), this one doesn't look so amazing.I'll give it a try and than we'll see.

well the initial "matrix" awe has worn off and now some irritations are shining through:

1. these guys can not aim! when the enemy lights up green it means you're supposed to be locked on. Well riiiight ! guys are green as can be and bullets still flying off the walls around them not even coming close

when you use the focus their aim improves but still not in a great way... maybe I'm just used to MOH..
2. camera is really starting to really piss me off now... seems I'm fighting it more than anything

3. fps is limited to 60fps regular speed and 15fps in "focus" or matrix slo mo style (probably a way to change the 60fps but dunno). Game is still as smooth as can be and I would have had no idea on the rates if not for fraps.

fellas might wanna wait and get this one for $35~$40. Matrix fan or not, its not worth $50+ IMO....

btw - the program refreshFORCE will not work with this game. have to use a different refresh rate proggy or play at 60Hz...

That's weird, you mean the ATI in-driver setting doesn't work to force the refresh rate? Strange.

It's the stupid XP 60hz bug.

I use Nvidia Refresh Rate Tool 2.1 to force 85hz at all resolutions.

I do but the refresh rate bug is in windows not ATI. In ATI there is a built in D3D override but nothing for openGL games. doesn't matter which GPU you have...

I tried rage3dtweak and it gave me nothing but trouble with my LCD @60hz and my CRT @ 85hz... kept screwing up my LCD resolution and refresh rate.... but its probably just me not configuring it right or something

Holy crap- are you telling me that OpenGL is stuck at 60hz with ATI cards too? I thought that the driver overide worked in the cat3.2's for opengl- Actually I was experimenting with running V-sync in RTCW and it was running at 85hz- (85fps)- so how can that be if it is stuck at 60fps? It seems to be at 85fps in Open gl for me.... Anyway- what exactly is the rage3d tweak? Does the rage3dtweak fix it automatically witthout running in the background like the fixes for Nvidia drivers? Also, does powerstrip have an XP 60hz opengl fix?

---now I am really confused.

well ill just say my first impressions of this game are best summed up in a word "CRAP".

after getting it installed, I find out, that the game will give a failure to load error if you have any program such as rage3d tweak forcing a refresh higher than 60hz. after eventually working this out (I havent been on boards much in the last few days so im sure this has been posted, but I didnt know), I load in the game, trying to battle the awful eye piercing 60hz at 1280x1024 and find out that aniso or FSAA doesnt appear to work either.

well I say, perhaps the game is good, so I watch the intro, not bad..... then get to the game....... nice polygons sticking out on the arms, nice square necks, game starts.... and OMG, the guy runs like he has something stuck in the back of his pants and ne needs to get somewhere to dislodge something.

after this I decided to turn it off, reinstalled rage3d tweak and fired up Vice city. thats more like it.

ill maybe give it more of a chance tomorrow, when ive nothing else to do.

I am LOVING this game! I'm on about the third or fourth level now and holding down that left shift button makes this game SO much fun

The focus moves this guy pulls are a blast! cartwheeling while firing his smg while dodging an onslaught of incoming bullets from a helicopter piloted by an agent... wooohooo!! And storyline has me completely hooked too! Sure I agree its no graphical marvel but it does look much better now that I've gotten aniso and fsaa working

and Zardon and anyone else that gets this game, the only refresh rate program that I have gotten to work is powerstrip. playing just fine at 1280x1024 @ 85hz

I guess ill give powerstrip another shot then, last time I tried it it totally screwed up my desktops running the 9800 pro and it required some tinkering in safe mode to even get back to windows. hopefully there is a newer revision out.

Btw.. it's just cuz the game doesn't like to go above 85hz... I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it.. but i have Rage3dTweak running and I just set all my timings to 85hz, and it works like a charm. I get horrible performance, but works without flaw.. haha
