I am wondering if a 9500 would be good enough, not for 1080p gaming of course, but good enough for games that are already out.

I think I am greek.

Pick the 1.479,00 € system... The main difference I see, is the amount od hardrive... If ou really need too much space, buy an external drive... less heat, less weight.

The CPUs are different as well.
I have read there is another version of the Aspire models with the 9650 which perhaps provides much better performance. After checking a couple of online reviews of the 9500 cards, they seem too low performance even for older games (Call of Duty 2 1024x768 @mid 10s fps).
I am not looking for one to run Crysis are full, but other normal games of today should be able to run at 30+ fps even at lower resolutions for the games I already have and may be wanting to play.

This is one I've been considering for a while, if it wasn't for the power issue I think the 3650 mobility would almost be as good as a 2600np or pro.

Power issue? Please give more details. What about performance?

No, just saying laptops in general don't have as much power coming from their tiny little power supply units as stand alones have so even if a card is copied exactly but with smaller components you find the card operates at lower performance levels than it is capable of most of the time to in order to have enough power for the system overall.

Sorry man didn't mean it that way lol.

This is one of the models I found, for that price too, 1899 euros. Very expensive, but filled with good things, including a geforce 9650m GS.
Notebookcheck: Acer Aspire 8920G

The site has lots of info on a large number of mobile graphics cards and links to reviews.
Notebookcheck: NVIDIA GeForce 9650M GS

Also, check this
YouTube - Crysis on a Geforce 9500M GS
It has a laptop running Crysis with a 9500m GS. Not bad, not bad at all IMO.

I did consider this one as well
MULTIRAMA
But the features, apart from the graphics card and perhaps the cpu, are not as good as the Acer or Toshiba models. Ok, it also has a 12 cell battery.
Then there is the build quality and support. Plus, just look at this thing, I am going to look at it for hours every day, it's too ugly.
Oh, and the price is much higher.

Nice, to think gaming laptops have come such a long way and are "affordable" these days.

I have some time before buying it (a month or two) so I was looking at Alienware systems. The 15m has a 8800m GTX graphics card, cool looking case, Extreme C2D CPU etc. BUT, I keep reading horror stories about alienware customer support, over heating issues, build quality for the plastics used and absolutely no 64bit OS support, with them claiming that the mainboard used doesn't support one, and that Alienware doesn't plan supporting 64bit OS any day soon.
So, I think I will skip on Alienware laptops, just not worth the trouble, even with the extra performance gain vs say a 9650GS.

unknownjd is on a distinguished road

For 8800M GTX machines you ought to check out Novatech in the UK, they have to be the best price out there at the moment! They seem to offer even lower end Penryn CPUs so you could upgrade after a years time to an X9000 or something :P
