Hey Guys..

Well, this is my attempt to try and advertise a CS server that I admin..
It's almost always being watched (or WAS, until the server went down for a while)
while there are players, so an active admin is almost readily available (usually
me).

Server Name: [54th]NYC BeatDown v1.5
Server IP: cstrike.hoiketech.com

Umm.. yeah -- if you want more info about it.. just ask..
I'm just trying to help the server-god since i'm "second in command", so to speak..

Hope to see some of you guys there..

Oh and also..
It's almost always empty now.. which is why I'm advertising it.. i'm trying to get it
back on it's feet.. =)

I've never played CS. When the original HL came out I was still on a 28.8 and online gaming blew...so I never got into it. Now that I have a semi-decent 56K I'd be willing to give it a go, but I got a few hang-ups....

I don't suck at FPS...I'm pretty good, but the whole team thing confuses me to no end. (CTF is ok, but what the heck are the goals in counter-strike?) Where would you recomend a newbie go for a quicky tutorial that would let me get in on the action without embaressing myself too badly?

I'm still a little hesitant due to the 56K modem & lag...I hate it when I know I'm a better player than someone but lag keeps killing me! Is counter-strike kind to us low-enders?

Thanks in advance, I might actually get some time this week to kill.

=) Yeah, I used to have a 56k as well and finding a server with a nice low ping
was always a nice task before I actually got down to playing..

But, if you want a few tips.. since the server is almost empty.. if I see you come in,
i'll be willing to go in myself and help you out with a few pointers.. some tips here
and there and help you out with the weapons..

There really isn't a good tutorial out there except playing and asking people..

The lag on 56k isn't too bad actually.. it's almost all the same with the netcode that
they introduced a long time ago.. There are actually people out there with 56k's
that do extremely well against people with broadband modems..
