Re: Dead Space
Scary like well crafted sci-fi or scary like Doom 3 (ie. cheap scares coming from behind.)
the game looks great and I'd love to pick it up, but I fear i'd expect something like Bioshock and get something like Doom 3. Not that Doom 3 is a bad game, its just those sorts of scares wear on me after a while and tend to ruin the experience. |

Re: Dead Space
the scares are similar to doom3, but this game is much more scarier than doom3
in the first 20 minutes i was more scared of this game than half of doom 3 put together. Im not going to spoil the game so i wont point anything out other than to say the game is very good and very scary. the enemys in deadspace are relentless, they come at you with such fear, you shoot there arms off and they keep coming you shoot there legs off and they scuttle towards you (ALIEN HEADCRAB STYLE) the only way to kill is to dismember every part of there bodys. by sticking your moonboots right though there skulls. if you leave then and dont totaly destroy them they will when your not expecting it jump up and kick your ass. for instance, i crippled one of these little F****rs it appeard to look dead i walked up to it and passed it but then i had a objective that required me retracing my steps i was walking very scared past the same little freak that i killed or thought i killed, i shit my self. nuff said about this game i think its a great masterpeice THE THING/RESIDENT EVIL 4/DOOM3 = this game. Re: Dead Space
Indeed.... this game is easily the scariest game I have played. I went into it expecting Doom3 walking about 1/4 way into it is on a whole different level. The atmosphere is one of the scariest I have ever been in.

Re: Dead Space
There is one thing though
The PC version is going to be on another level compaired to the xbox360 version the AF on the XBOX360 version isnt great at all as you can see the bleeding detail or farout ground textures very close to you and there is no AA to speak of apart from some form of bluring around the edges. anyway PC version will rock in the graphics department and i just hope my system can cope

Re: Dead Space
Good news for people with old computers!
My aging gaming system can run this game completed maxed out with 4XAA/16AF (forced via Nhancer) with frame rates around 60-120. The only times it ever drops below 60 is when many enemies are on screen. I don't know if I like this game as much as Doom 3 because it's not first person but so far so good. I got as far as the first time you encounter anti-gravity but I couldn't figure out how to walk up the wall. Aren't you supposed to press "Ctrl" ? ![]() Does anyone know how to configure a PS2/USB Gamepad for this game? Or could someone paste their gamepad config for this game? I tried one I found on another forum and most of the buttons didn't have binds nor could I bind anything else in the game options.

Re: Dead Space
Have to say I was pleasantly surprised wit this game, I usually avoid anything 3rd person on the PC but this one truly enjoyed playing.
Note: Wish I had actually bought it for the Xbox360 as it seems more "scary" than the PC version.

Re: Dead Space
What is the DRM exactly like? Limits? I bought the game (yes), but I can't find any info on installation limits, if I have to uninstall the game in a certain way to get the activation revoked or whatever. PC version of course.

Re: Dead Space
Securom (v.7.38) + PA module. It is the same version of protection that is in Spore, including the activation stuff.
On the plus, you won't need the DVD in the drive after activation. On a side note, I finished the game on Wednesday for the 360. Took me about 20 minutes to get used the first person/3rd person hybrid view (Issac is on the left side of the screen, view is from his right side, but close up, so it's a bit wonky at first to get used to). Took me about 15 hours to finish it, but those were fun 15 hours. Just remember to be aware of your surroundings when going from room to room. If you are coming up to a new room, bring your gun up, and check it as you go in. As a friend of mine said recently, "The one time, THE ONE TIME I didn't follow this rule was the only time I got my ass seriously owned!" Edit: PS. While I don't condone pirating, if you have any problems running the game try the cracked files for this. Some people have said that the cracked files helped to stabilize the game for them (less crashes/false starts).

Re: Dead Space
So, you need to be offline to revoke the activation/uninstall the game, right?
I played a bit, it's fine so far, interesting visuals and weapon, but, I think I would still prefer a good shotgun or a G3.

Quote:
EA is a weird one. According to Anandtechs forum page only Fifa has a revoke tool, and only then with the latest patch. All their other games don't have one. |

Re: Dead Space
This game was scary initially (man, running through that first corridor scared the bejeezus out of me) but once I learned "The Way of the Intercepting Foot-stomp" I was an industrial saw swinging, foot-stomping machine. Except tiny enemies still made me scared like a little panzy. >_>

Re: Dead Space
Sooo, if in the next 2-3 years I have some upgrades/new PCs or whatever and try to reinstall the game, I won't be able to play the game again even if I have uninstalled it while online?

Re: Dead Space
Not at all i played right the way through on a keyboard the control remapping was easy and it plays a little like bloodrayne the first half hour or so i odd as there appears to be a little overcompensation as you turn but after 10 minutes or so you get used to that one of the best survival horror games of the last 6 months
