Mmmh, Games for Windows Live strikes again.

I've got a diffferent twist for you guys!

I grabbed GTA4 so pretty much had to get the GFWL. It all worked fine.

I later installed FO3. Before even playing it, I d/Led OA.

When then starting FO3, I noticed that clicking the 'Live' link did nothing at all, nor did pressing the 'Home' key.

So I go to GFWL and it only lists GTA4, and no FO3.

How do I get GFWL to see that I now own FO3?

I gotta do that first before I'm allowed by M$ to start having dramas with their DLC like the rest of you guys!

Unfortunately I have no Idea how to help you there. I am a n00b when it comes to that silly M$ program.

Now about Operation Anchorage. It is rather short , 3-5 hour or so I'd guess. But enjoyable. I would suggest not doing OA early in the game if you are planning on using the character though out the rest of the game though. As when you come out, you have so much high tech you'll be unstoppable.

yeah I've not done anything with M$ Live. Not going to. I'll just get my patches once they are available for download elsewhere and the same with the expansions. I've got SOOOO much still to do with this game I'm not even the least worried about expansions yet. It won't be too long and they will just release them to retailers. And if not then I'll look elsewhere to buy em.

Anyways, I noticed an article on another site I go to often that mentioned that Fallout 3 Nexus had a page up that lists the Top 50 Fallout 3 Mods... or at least the top 50 on their site. Quite a few good mods on the list like the 5 or so terrain/texture packs, continued play after you finish the main quest (just in case you can't wait for Aprils DLC), expanded GNR music list (up to 100 golden oldie songs), and repair rethought (which logically allows you to repair items using common items, so you can repair metal items using scrap metal, and so fourth) among others. Pretty good list of mods.

Happened to me too you gotta copy your saves manually from your profile and put them directly into the saved games folder then it will load them without any GFWL.

Has anyone here finished the game and restarted with a new character to be evil this time around? Does that choice give the game added replay value? I can choose to be evil now but it seems like at this point it wouldn't change much of the storyline if at all since I'm well into the final DLC.

Aside from the loot at the end, it was the worst DLC and perhaps even the worst quest in Fallout 3.

It was pretty lame lol.
I am now in the Pitt and already feels a much better experience.

I had to use a console command to change the ownership of the "crates" in my house, it sucks BIG time that they have yet to patch that damn thing. Good thing I checked online before leaving my things in there.

Following may contain spoilers regarding the Pitt.



Right after I crossed the door (and found myself kissing the floor), I managed to kill a guard and take his weapon. All the guards went hostile to me and although I could try to survive, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to finish the Pitt and I would find myself stuck in there, so I reloaded and played like a good slave.

This game would look sooooo much better if it had better textures. They feel like low resolution ones.

You aren't using a texture mod? Get the "Fallout 3 High Definition Pack" it will nearly max out your vid card memory with really high rez textures. It's been out since last year.

I've found no record of a 1.7 patch for Fallout 3, 1.6 is the highest I can find online.

I started the game, it logged me in Live, it said there is an update. A few min later 1.7 was installed.

As for the High res mod, I saw many pictures of it, comparison shots too, and it just doesn't look much better to me.

It makes a huge different, especially outdoors on the terrain, I think I use a few of them but one of the better ones was called "High Resolution Rocks". The difference was immediately obvious at 1920x1200 on highest details. We're not talking Cinematic Mod caliber but it's up there with Quarl's texture pack for Oblivion.

I went ahead with the slaves, although I never liked their attitude towards me. I had a feeling that something was not going right, first with the W dude being in good health and a couple other minor things.
When I went to Heaven and talked to the boss there and saw the cure, I was pissed off. I decided to work for him. The revolt by the...workers was no problem. I took care of the little liar too. Now I am back to the Wasteland.

I wanted to buy the DLCs, but the GFWL doesn't work for me, I'm getting the 80154017 error. Maybe it's because CZ is not on the supported countries list...

Well, I hope they will release them on Steam sometime.

Would a BFG GTX 280 OC be able to handle "Fallout 3 High Definition Pack" at 1920 x1200?

The rest of the rig specs are, Samsung 27" Syncmaster 275T, 4GB crucial DDR2, E8400 @ 3.8GHz.

You mean would the most powerful single gpu on the market be able to handle the mod? Haha, ya it damn sure will! All it took for me was a single 260GTX but when I added the second one it smoothed it out. The engine Fallout 3 uses is nothing for modern GPU's to crunch.

Guys, I haven't finished it yet, my character is a neutral to good small arms expert, I am quite deep in the game, but I want to also start a new character, as an evil bastard. Is it possible, without having to copy files all the time, to start a new character and keep my old?

There's nothing you can do about the autosave, but all you'd need to do is have 2 separate saves for each character. You just have to remember to do a manual save for that character before you quit the game.

OR

Create a new user for GFWL just for your evil character. Same things goes for if you don't log into GFWL. The save game will be for that user.
