Thumbs Up! A little Help Plz

I just Purchaced A XFX 9800 GT, And a 400 watt power supply

Graphics are great and everything but im still skipping and game play is weirder than before.

I play a game called Americas Army, and this is the only game I play..

Any suggestions, Should I move up to a 500 watt power supply or is that still to low..

Thanks,

Re: A little Help Plz

500W will probably not be enough. You should go for a PSU of absolutely minimum 550W and 85% efficiency.

What is the rest of the system?

What was your previous graphics card?

Re: A little Help Plz

The thing is, I have never played AA so I don't know how it should play. You have a slow CPU that just isn't powerful enough to deal with the graphics card so you don't get all the performance of the graphics card you have now.
The 400W is dangerously low for this system with this graphics card...

Before you placed the new graphics card in the PC, did you remember to uninstall all graphics drivers of the old "graphics card"? After you did that, did you shut down the system, plug in the new card, boot, disable the old card through the BIOS, reboot, load windows and install the drivers for the new card?

Re: A little Help Plz

I play AA periodically and you do need a pretty good card for it. I don't know where the Nvidia line of cards sit compared to ATI however when I had my X1900 Radeon, I had to go from a 430 Enermax PSU to a 550 watt in order to give it enough juice to play it smooth and with out the rebooting by itself in the middle of an intense gun fight. I'm guessing it's your power supply that's the problem.

500 will do, don't see why it isn't enough.

Re: A little Help Plz

500watt should do...

just make sure that that each 12v rail is rated no less then 16amp and thier combined power is no less then 32+...... but even that i would be leary with that machine and that card.

i'd jump at 40+amp or 18amp per 12v rail as a minimum.

Re: A little Help Plz

Okay, So I just bought the 500 watt, and It is almost the same... Like Before with even a crappier card and 350 power supply I was loading up the screen withing 15-20 seconds now it is taking almost 3-4 minutes!

Is there any settings that I can use?

Do I need more ram?

Also everything is almost like animated like the icons and such on my screen it is very wierd.. I am running on a lcd tv and using it as my monitor? Is this the reason...

If someone could find me the TV capture Driver download for XFX 9800 GT that would be great to because I cant find it know where.

So I hope someone can really help me solve this from what I have wrote.

Thanks guy!
