I'd love to see it, but I would be surprised to see this come to fruition. That's the problem with some of these advanced, grand scale, mods; a couple fans rarely have the resources to recreate a game on the same scope as HL.

Progress has been really slow for them. I have been following their team and site since they first announced it. Good thing is that they are doing everything the right way.

The bad thing is it will most likely be out late 2009 or mid 2010.


And like most, if it is done well enough and has long term support. I would pay for this.


Hopefully, if Valve knows what is good for their company still they will take these guys onto their team.

If Valve does offer a deal, I'd hope they don't take it. If any offers are made it should be for jobs, because the quality I see in that video is superb.

There will always be someone who hasn't experienced the original game so it's a good way for them to get to know HL. Personally i don't mind replaying games, changed or not.

The games are quite different, however. Half Life: Source was a direct port, something like you seem to be expecting. Everything was the same layout, same gameplay, same everything, just a new engine.

This, however, is a totally new game. They didn't set out to remake the entire Half-Life, but to put a few of their own spins on it, not only in level design but in game play.

You shouldn't come into BMS expecting Half-Life, as it's not the same game.

Ya dude i agree i never usually play a game a second time once i have finished unless the replay value is high. I wonder how different from the original it is going to be?

If its the same; playing that game might keep me entertained for like 5min and thats about it!

I actually don't mind playing some games through multiple times. A lot depends on just how well I enjoyed it the first time through. Also, many of the games, when they first came out, had to be tweaked, quality reduced, etc. just to be able to play them on the rig I had at the time. After some nice system upgrades, a lot of these games can now be played with settings all the way up and not miss a beat.

For the most part, though, if the game has a good story driven development, that's what I like. And, at my age, I've slept a few times since the first time through so, a second time is almost like a first time, anyway.

FarCry
The Witcher

I've been following BMS since it was first announced soooooooooo many years ago. I was almost convinced the project was scrapped due to the work load involved. Apparently they never stopped, which is great.
Should be a great treat to play.

I bought HL1 off Steam for 98c, and whilst it had support for 1920x1200, it still didn't look that good, so an updated engine will be worthwhile.
