Re: Defense Grid: The Awakening

Tried it for the first time last week. Ive always liked the TD games ever since i tried em in war3. Was a pain finally getting through all the levels, and even had to give up for a couple days because i was getting so frustrated.

The only way i was able to finish the last level was making the mobs run all over the map. Got em all funneled together on the right side than make me run up one bridge too an island then back down the other bridge in the opposite direction, try a few times and you will see what i mean.

Eventually you get enough towers to finally kill em before they can get back too the exit. When i finally did manage i only had 1 core left though.

Well hopefully Hexotic's suggestion helps, I gave up a long time ago on the last stage. Only thing against the game was the difficulty curve. it was easy at the start then got challenging until the last level which was extremely difficult. I wonder if anyone has completed this game with more than 2-3 cores. everyone I know who has completed it only had one core when the game ended.

I havent tried again since i finished it the last time. It took me forever to finally get it the first time, and figured i would give it a rest for a little while. Ill get back on and try again soon, and if theres still no luck on the last stage ill try and get some screenshots or something.

==========

finished the final level with only 2 cores. Created very long paths and had four cannons upgraded to highest level at the N-S_W_E inner corners of the "Open" square combined with lots of laser towers
Great game ..hopefully new levels will be available.

Re: Defense Grid: The Awakening

2 cores? im impressed.

I don't think I can face playing that last level again to be honest, drove me batty for about a week!

Im looking forward to a new pack for it, I hear its on the cards as it has sold so well on steam.

I haven't played the game, only watched a couple of videos of it. It looks like a combination of RTS, Puzzle game, Rampart and Stronghold, only without any enemy AI. Several people have mentioned how cool the game is, I guess I just don't get the fascination over it.
Graphics look great.

I think tower defense games are the type of game you have to try to like, kind of like dota or TF2.

I'm thinking of buying it or the Jagged Alliance 2/Disciples II Gold package on steam next. Big fan of both dota and TF2, hope I will like the tower defense genre if I do buy Defense Grid.
