Crysis original is longer and I feel it is more compelling. Warhead has some minor graphics updates and new features like auto getting ammo from weapons when passing on them.
In replayabilty both are quite similar, you can play on harder level and some helping features will disappear in (hard-delta) mode , for examble in delta mode you can't shoot from the car's machine gun while driving and the hud will be no longer avaliable in cars machine guns.

Are you looking to buy only one of them or something? If so playing Warhead before the original seems very silly to me as the stories tie in nicely. I still prefer the original though. Its longer and there are considerably more mods if you are in to that sorta thing.

Crysis is far longer than warhead... But i do think the replay value is perhaps not as good as warhead.

Warhead is a little better optimised and runs smoother.. if it were not fro the length i would perhaps say go for warhead... But id think the story would be slightly missed out of if you have not played crysis..

Id go for both if you are going to buy one or the other,especially if you can get them within your budget.

Ya like every one was saying for single player mode i would go with Crysis the first one its longer and personally i felt it was better compared to warhead which i felt was way too short

I got it from Steam so it should be ok with patches.

I also installed Catalyst 9.4 from 9.2 I had.

Well, I gues we will have to wait for some more time. I tried about 8 times to start the game, and after each time I get the error message that it can't contact the licence servers...how lovely. Just reminds me why I hate DRM like this and how it tries no matter what I do, to push me back to piracy.


Also lovely how each time it auto start the installation of gamespy comprade and each time I have to cancel it because I don't want to use that garbage.

Pretty sure you need to install both it and punkbuster before the game will run. Although they don't need to be running.

I did allow punkbuster to install/upgrade at first. After reading your post I also let shitspy to install too. The error, as expected, remains. It is a server license error. It is either offline or whatever.

It finaly worked. BUT, I am very confused. Was the error message from Steam instead of EA/securom? I don't know. The deauthorization tool by EA does not recognise the installation at all.

The game loaded fine. I changed the settings to 1680x1050, 0AA (I don't see the point of it in most games), details all to Very high, apart from bluring that I dislike in all games and have it OFF.

I don't know how to make fps show since fraps just doesn't seem to work for me on this game. I played the first few minutes, up till where you find the dead korean soldiers. The game looks very very good, although I still say that Far Cry 2 looks better to me. The framerate, though unknown, must be quite high. It's very fluid, without any slowdowns, although I haven't seen much action to mean much.
The only thing annoying with it is the tutorial messages that keep appearing even after I disabled them and they give me info about action with my 360 controller, although I am using the mouse and keyboard.

Tomorrow I will try to make the fps show, I am curious.

I definitely, agree DRM is *crap*, That being said, I do like the original as it's longer and a lot more map, the 2nd one is more run and gun without as much of a plot line, but you do already know what's going on. As far as performance, I got a 4870 so I wouldn't know about the framerates but there are a few differences that I do notice to the graphics.

I suggest getting both( crytek is gonna release maximu edition which contains both). But if you only want one get original crysis. Is longer plus there are alot of singleplayer maps in crymod ( many of which contain a mission) for crysis

I had played Crysis through twice. Then, for some reason, on my third attempt, I hit a glitch at the place where you rescue a hostage at the school house. The game is stuck there and no way to proceed.

But, seeing as I had already completed the game twice, it's not a huge issue for me. I mainly like to replay these games after doing a system and/or graphics card upgrade to see how much different they perform.

That said, I picked up the CRYSIS: Maximum Edition a couple of days ago and have started playing through Warhead on my 3x1 Eyefinity setup.

Many people are saying that Warhead has been "optimized" for performance. I tend to think that means "dumbed-down" as I'm not impressed at all with the graphics...as compared to the first one. I'm seeing a lot of clipping...especially when hugging the rocks and turning around.

And, someone else mentioned a lack of plot. What plot? For the most part it seems I'm just wandering around and taking out enemies at random with no real sense of direction.

My impression of this is that it's just not as polished as the original. I've seen user mods with better plot and immersion than this.

Ha, I've just bought Crysis again to play through on my new GTX460.

When I buy it that is - I am waiting on a power supply that I ordered being delivered to a local retailer but the snow has FUBAR'd deliveries.

I tried to go through Crysis with my new card and I encountered the same bug. It pissed me off so much that I uninstalled the game. There are plenty other games without gamestopping bugs.

(btw, I tried the demo of Mafia II on the PS3, AWEsome)


If you are looking for a fun cheap fps, I suggest you try Legendary. You can get it for I think $3 from gamersgate.
