Ghostbusters-insanly high req.

ok i i wanted to try ghostbusters for pc ( since i liked the movies) but after reading in "yougamers" the minimum and recommended requirements i decided not to buy it. Why cant some developers put effort in pc ports. multiplatform devs like bathesda, bioware, dice put effort in the pc version and their pc ports are great. But there devs like rockstar ( gta4) and now terminal reality that all they do is a direct copy of the console version in the pc and then they complain about their games not selling well on pc
How do you expect to sell well if you have ghostbusters a game that looks worst than doom3 a 2004 game and have the following recommended req.
Cpu-Core2duo 8400!!!!
VGA-Ati 48xx or nvidia gtx260!!!
Ram-4gb!!!!
for crying out loud that has higher recommended settings even from crysis and it looks nowhere near crysis at medium let alone high
The funny thing is that they cut out online features for pc yet you need internet connection to play it!!!!!!!!! ( call me DRM )

God, they deserve not to get any sales from their PC port. Those requirements are just saddening.

Sorry for the edit before hand, Z.

Attached is a box shot for the specs mentioned by the OP. What's interesting about the specs is that there was a forum post on the GB forums by the dev about the specs, and they were different.

I think he got them from futuremarks "yougamers" site.

Haven't played the PC version so I can't really offer any feedback on the specs unfortunately.

I Said that i'm talking about recommended and not minimum since with my experience in pc gaming since 1994-95 the minimum usually means nothing and in order to enjoy the game you need a machine that falls near or above recommended req.
But even if you look the min req. it still has higher min req. than games like crysis,Stalker, empires total war!!!! and it definatelly looks nowhere near them
But my biggest complain about the game is that it implements DRM that require ONLINE activation yet they removed the online features for pc
Also just to compare it with a game that comes also this year and it certainly looks better than this Dragon age origins by a dev that puts effort in the pc version ( bioware ). Dragon age origins min are core2 1,4ghz and an ati x850 or nvidia 6600gt and 1gb of ram and recc. are 1,6ghz core 2 nvidia 8800gt or similar and 2gb.
i'm sorry but some devs think that by putting a f****d version of their game on pc it will sell well and fight piracy?? on contrary it will get pirated more

All is fine now.

Adamos, I understand you are upset (I am a huge Ghostbusters fan), so just don't buy the game for the PC. You don't give any money to them for creating such a high req game, you don't feel like an idiot for even trying to play the game on your pc and you save money for another game.

Unless you buy it for a console.

xbox360... triple core..... super modified x1900xtx style gpu....very little to no ram worth mentioning....

and there is no major visual difference from xbox360 to pc?

Those are fairly wild recommendations.. but i think i'll reserve full judgement until i see both in action.

Re: Ghostbusters-insanly high req.

Those are some wild recommended specs! Still, there's quite a gap between minimum and recommended (8400 and 260) so if there's a demo, it may be worth checking out. Also, it's probably worth looking at the feedback from the early buyers. If it's a straight port, then resolution is probably the only important graphics option, and if an 8400 (and Intel G45) can do at least 800*600, then your 8800GT ought to go at least as far as 1680*1050.

Honestly I think its freaking time for a multiplatform disc, I think these companies have had their cake and ate it to long enough, If I buy a game for xbox 360, I should be able to also have the PC version if I so desire, for a minimal fee, or a free digital download. I got the game for PC, and my freaking WII plays it better. Yes it looks better on the PC. but thats not the point, it runs better on the WII. I have more then enough system.

Re: Ghostbusters-insanly high req.

you don't have to , As the matter with the crappy ports you could use emulators to run almost all versions of the game on the pc , it would probably be better than the PC game itself lol. And no multiplayer for the PC so it won't differ.
