As a marketing tool, the trailer has become as indispensible to videogames as it is to film. The problem is that by design, the spectacle of a trailer glosses over a game’s shortcomings. Luckily, we’re here to help you cut through the treacle and decode the true meaning behind all that slick publicity.

If videogame trailers told the truth, we think they’d look more like this:

Meh, I was expecting something better. They didn't even make fun of the constant overuse of pre-rendered game footage in trailers being passed off as actual gameplay.

I agree with you. Cutscenes and trailers are never the same as gameplay.

Sony's the biggest abuser of video game trailers..... shit didn't they finally get sued a few times over prerendering everything and not showing ANY real game footage
