First Monkey Island Episodic Game Comes Out Today!

I am too damn excited! Tons of fans on the Telltale Games forums too. Ugh, I need to go back to sleep but at this point it's almost impossible.

Who else is as excited as I am?

Well here's some of my thoughts on the first episode:

Overall, it's a fun experience, but running around through the jungle and the town trying to figure out what to do got boring fast. Solid voice acting, corny jokes which I love but could have been done better, great presentation.

The thing that bothered me the most was that it felt and played like Monkey Island 4, the worst game out of the all the previous ones (but it also can't really be helped in a sense). I would like to see the future episodes incorporate the level of humor from the first two with the "edge" and cleverness of the third; it shouldn't rely on elements from MI4!

Also, what happened to the insult swordfighting? Hopefully Telltale can do something about it.

Is it like the first in the series in terms of UI? I remember one of the last ones (the last one?) that played like an arcade game.

It's basically a mix between MI3 and MI4. Basically you press "I" or click on the edge of the screen to open the inventory, where you can easily investigate items or combine two items into one. The interaction with the characters and environment is incredibly simple. It's not like MI3 where you click on an object and you can either investigate, talk to, or use it. Rather, there's only one combined function, where Guybrush performs the action that seems most appropriate.

I personally think the UI is as simple as you can get. At least you don't have to use "U", "E", etc. to perform actions like in MI4, but I would like to have a choice of what I want to do in terms of interacting with objects like in MI3.

EDIT: Actually, if you played previous Telltale adventure games like Sam and Max, just imagine a system almost identical to that but incorporated into Monkey Island.
