Which joystick of the two?

Between Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X and Saitek Aviator (360+PC).

The Saitek has the obvious advantage that it also works with the Xbox 360. I don't have any flight games for it, but there are a couple that I would be willing to eventually get.

The TM is 10 euros more expensive here. Looks are not important. I could have the Aviator in the next day or perhaps by Monday. The Thrustmaster a couple days more at best, perhaps more since they don't have any in stock.

It will be used for PC combat flight sims mainly. Planes (90%) and helicopters, perhaps space.

Re: Which joystick of the two?

I've a Saitek which I've used on a limited basis for the last couple years. It's a nice stick with a lot of features. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Re: Which joystick of the two?

If I had to pick one of those two, it would be the Saitek.

I prefer a HOTAS setup like the Thrustmaster, but Saitek's quality is a bit better. I've been using a Saitek X-52 and Saitek rudder pedels HARD for a couple of years now, and they ate still flawless.

Re: Which joystick of the two?

I have to remove the Saitek. The main reason for buying it would be the 360 compatibility for the game Over G Fighters. From what I read the game is not compatible with the controller so I have no reason to get it.

Now I am between the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X at £35, the Thrustmaster T Flight Stick x at £18 , the Saitek AV8R Retro Joystick at £17 and the Black Widow Flightstick Joystick at £28.

What do you think?

Re: Which joystick of the two?

I decided to not get the Black Widow since for its price I might as well get something with a bigger name behind it. Also it looks very toy like and I don't like the idea of not being able to seperate the throttle from the stick for a weird reason I can't exactly explain.

I decided to not get the Saitek for a couple of reasons. The lack of a good wrist rest. Some reviews claim that there is one included that you can screw it yourself on the stick, but even then they say it is just not good enough. The other reason is that all of the reviews say the joystick is very light and you need to hold it at all times with your left hand.

From the two remaining joysticks, due to what it looks like they are the same exact joystick, but with the more expensive one have a seperate throttle lever/stick, I decided that paying double the amount of money than for the cheaper stick, is just not worth the money to me.

So, in a min I will order the Thurstmaster T Flight Stick X.

Thanks for your posts.

Re: Which joystick of the two?

The joystick arrived today. I don't have any serious flight sim installed. I tried Blazing Angels. Problems are the game doesn't recognise the twist axis at all. So, since I prefer to play in first person (where the plane controls more light in a flight sim), I am forced to use two other buttons on the joystick for it.
I loosened up the stick and it is great fun. I will try it with more games over the next few days.

The construction feels very well made, think plastic and no noises that shouldn't be there.

So far, good.
