Wii to 23" HDMI / DVI Monitor?

I just bought a 23" monitor for my PC that has HDMI, DVI, and VGA connections. Is there a way to hook up the nintendo wii to this monitor. The Wii has the standard RCA red, white, and yellow jacks. I did see an adapter for the Wii that had HD component connections that supposedly supported 1080p, but the connections were round and looked like the RCA connections. Any help would be appreciated.

you might be able to get a Component (uses RCA connectors) to VGA adaptor, but I think it will be expensive... as the VGA connection uses discrete RGB signals, with seperate sync pins, while component uses a different format...

Unfortunately you will never get 1080p though. The Wii only outputs a max 480p. The only way to get that higher is to use a 3rd party box that can upscale the image for you, such as a tuner box, or use a video card that has video in (one that accepts component video in that is) that you can use to upscale and output to your monitor.

I think your best bet would be to grab a tuner box, such as the KWorld TvBox 1920ex. While it doesn't have 1080p, it does have 1080i support, and even coax input, so you can hook up your TV cable to it. Depending on how hard you look you can usually find one for $70-100.

Thats looks like what I need, not sure if I want to spend $77 on it though. I do not understand why cables in general are so much $$.

It's not a cable though. That, like the one I suggested, is a piece of hardware that includes a chip that upscales images, and then outputs that. Mind you, it doesn't cost them nearly that much money to make one.

A thing to note about that one gadabout linked to, it only upconverts composite video, not component, and only to 720p, however I like the fact that it outputs to HDMI.. even the audio.

That's how Nintendo gets you. With all the little extras that you need to get.

If you don't want to spend nearly 100 for "fixing" this, you might want to consider buying another monitor/TV with the appropriate connections. Yes, it will cost more, perhaps even double, but at least you will also get something to show than a small dongle.
