Microsoft Flight Simulator X

I have read reports that the game has a 2 activations limit DRM. Then other reports that the game has a disc based copy protection and doesn't require online authentication.

Which is true?

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator X

I don't think any Microsfot games have an activation limit. Just games like Sacred 2.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator X

So you are saying that you know that the game doesn't have online activation? So if I buy it and it has you will be willing to buy it off me?

I don't believe you have bought the game.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator X

I can't remember if it's on disk or online activation but I know that i've formatted and reinstalled FSX on about 8 occasions including 3 complete rebuilds. I also currently have it on a vista install and a win7 install. Never had a single issue.

Cloud are you FREAKING KIDDING me? You say there is no activation then say you have activated it twice. What's wrong with you?

Lelisevis, what version do you have when you first install it, before any patches? Also, is it the deluxe, the gold or the regular version?

BlueMak

I have the DELUXE version and I've installed it 8-10 times and never ran into any issues. I've installed it on XP 32 and 64 bit, and Vista 32 & 64 bit. Haven't tried it on WIN 7 yet.

You could check on this forum:
Simviation Forums - Flight Simulator X

They would know better than anyone else.

Thank you OldBuzzard. Also, did you have to activate it or do you have to have the disc in the drive?

First time you said no activation, then you said two activations, now you say no activation. What do you think, I trust what you say or not?

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator X

According to this
Frequently asked questions about how to activate Games for Windows, Streets and Trips, and MapPoint
It has activations, which are unlimited if for the same PC...
As for installing the game on different hardware it says to read the EULA...right.

I will see if I can find out anything else and if it is indeed correct that I can't install it one more than 1-2 different configurations then I will find another solution.

What are you doing BlueMak? Wanting to install on a different machine or something? Just interested, I don't know about MS games so don't have any answers, just following along.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator X

I don't want to pay money to buy a game that is limited to one hardware configuration. At least the other companies that screw us have a revoke tool, there doesn't seem to be any for this one.

You will have to activate it. You won't need to have the DVD in the drive. The whole point of going to ACTIVATION was to 'assure' that you have a 'legal copy' without having to have the DVD in the drive.

You shouldn't have a problem with re-activation, as long as you do an un-install before re-installing on new hardware. Even then, at worst, all you would have to do is call MS for an actication code...similar to what you have to do with Windows at times.

OR, you can find other <cough>'solutions',cough>. on the net

The same thing also applies to FSX ACCELERATION expansion pack, which you should get as well.
