Older FPS games
Over the last few days I tried a couple of older FPS games. The worst of which had average reviews of 80/100 or something. (post 1999 games-2002 ish) I noticed that they all felt the same in one way. The "tracking/aiming" with the mouse, felt different than with more modern games. I find it very difficult to explain. Anyone else had this experience?
Also, I have noticed that more and more I want in my FPS games the ability to right click aim/zoom, even in games where there is very little recoil to begin with. Am I getting too weird?

Re: Older FPS games
mouse tracking has been improved over the years, I too notice a difference between older and newer games - i think the newer games are smoother, I wouldn't say either is better, but just different

Re: Older FPS games
One issue I have noticed is that nowadays some lazy developers do not correctly implement mouse functionality in DX-based games, so what ends up happening is terrible mouse acceleration and/or "mouse latency" remains present and it's usually a pain to fix it. I don't think this issue is present in OGL-based games (but I could be wrong!).
The older games feel much better to me because I don't ever remember this being a problem until pretty recently.
