I think I've quit gaming, I haven't gamed for two months now and no withdrawal symptoms, not even those games on facebook though I have done a couple of quizes, I've been getting out more, doing stuff with friends, meeting more women ( ) and generally having a better time outside this summer, not that I'm saying people should quit gaming altogether or that it stifles social pleasure, just saying that people who do not feel like they're satisfied with their life or things around them and are gamers should try life outside a little bit, you might thank me for it in the long run.

The reason I quit was not to go outside however but because vids just weren`t doing it for me anymore for some reason. They got (and still are to me at least) really really boring and I just had to go out and meet some chicks.

Long live gaming but they`re just not for me anymore. For some reason though I feel like I`m free of some cycle that was just doing nothing for me in the end.

Anyway, gaming is not for everyone so there is no reason to feel bad if you really don't feel like playing. Though that you keep mentioning "chicks" it sounds more like you are trying to convince yourself than anything else

Lol, actually yes, my buddy's girlfriend was behind me watching tv as I typed so yes one was nearby, convince myself lol, that's funny. I cracked the girlfriend thing a long time ago and if something doesen't give me challenge I rarely stick around.

Just been watching The Interventionist now and wow, and you thought you made some bad decisions in your life. I guess I can say I'm living a more balanced life now with everything in moderation, I like it, I like it. And I have quit drinking for good too now so thats a plus as well, now all I have to do is find myself a lady to do my cooking or learn myself so I can quit junk food too and clean up that end of my life though I don't consider myself fat or anything at 5 foot 6 and 116 kg. Plus i have asthma.

Have you noticed that when a human can't do something, tries to make that thing to look as something that isn't deserve doing, even though if given the chance they would do it?

Classic example is when you get a new girlfriend. No more time for sports, hanging around with the guys, etc. When one of them asks, he says that they are kids' stuff and not worth doing, but given the chance, they are back there lol.

yup, i know this now and believe you me i wish i knew -NOTHING- about women, i wish i was still that gay little kid playing games behind the computer screen. i have to say though i am surprised and amazed at the game, it is well, and trully, ill to the core.

Since the thread has been resurrected by the OP, I'll chime in on this thought.

First of all, I game a LOT! It's something I discovered a few years ago that I enjoy doing. But, I'm quite selective in the games I enjoy playing.

Now, keep in mind, I'm nearly completely deaf. So, going out to the movies or off to the crowds for interaction just isn't a good option for me.

But, how many people who frown on gaming [and I'm NOT saying that's what YOU are doing!] spend hours upon hours watching TV, reading magazines and novels, and, even going out to the pub/diner or movies? What is the big difference between those activities and enjoying a video game for an hour or so?

What I see in gaming is a way to interact with the development of the story. If there's no story, I'm not interested in the game. Frag fests don't interest me at all. If I do participate, it's only long enough to see how well my rig performs because I totally suck at them.

Now, outside of the games I play, I work six days per week, have four kids and six grandkids, and an 80-year old mother nearby.

Since I'm single I eat out a lot and, at that time, I read the current newspaper and also keep up with the developing news on my cellphone's Internet connection.

Frankly put, I'm quite pleased with my "life" and don't have any inclination to make any changes in the near future. As a matter of fact, I can't understand people who complain that they're "bored" all the time. For me, my cup runneth over!

I find that gaming has less to do with having a girlfriend or anything like that (who doesn't know some loser guy who has a hot girlfriend but ignores her in favor of playing games ) and more to do with free time. If you've got enough of it then you can enjoy gaming but if it's just a few hours a day after work you just can't get into gaming like before. It's so much easier to watch a movie or tv or be more social and go out somewhere. Some games require time investment and demand at least a weekend to get into and I feel like I should be doing other things with my free time more often than not. I envy those guys who can work long hours then come home and play 5 hours on their Xbox; I just can't do that now matter how hard I try.

Basically, I think we can quit "gaming" but enjoy gaming on our own terms. You just have to find the right game and remember there's no time limit on when you can enjoy the many awesome games available. Will a GOTY be any less enjoyable if you pick it up a year or two later? Hell no.

This is true, but for some reason games just don't hold it for me anymore. Even the ones girls like to play. I like the girls that don't like playing games (that much). I guess all those years of playing games intensly has me bored of playing games. that and i'm just lazy as fudge now. but at the same time everything seems so easy.

Its a shame that you have stopped gaming but its understandable, most probably you hang around people who do not game a lot coz I find that if you hang with a crowed of people who love gaming its only natural for you to get into it as well. So to some extent the company you keep affects your interest in games coz we always used to compete on who is better at sniping in halo or who kicks at dotta etc..

Yeah, that could be part of the reason, only one of my current friends games and he doesen't even do it heavily, so yeah i think that could partly be it, on the flip side though it could be i attracted people who don't game coz i don't game either. gaming is good, its just not for me anymore, maybe someday i'll pick it up again, it just seems sad to me even if i am happy as it is that i used to game and enjoy it so much and now i don't do it at all, but as long as i'm happy i'm cool.

the reason i ressurected this thread was just to agree with tyronswood and blumak that i actually did not know anything about women when i claimed i did earlier when i originally started this thread and i just laughed to myself when i saw what i said when i got bored and looked back. interesting how much one can change in ones life.

Gaming is one of the ways I let off some steam . I don't think I'll ever quit gaming unless the future chnages dramatically , who knows ?

I haven't been gaming lately either but not for lack of want, more like lack of hardware (which is remedied soon thanks to Hardware Heaven!).

I don't think I will be gaming too much longer myself. Games have drifted away from the kind of games I like. Everything now is RPG's or FPS's, or tedious strategy games. I burnt out on RPG's way back in the C64 days and I never did care for FPS or boring strategy games. I haven't went online with a game in YEARS.....I just can't sit there for hours playing the same game like that.
The games someone like me would like don't sell anymore and therefore aren't made anymore. Games like cool platforming shooters, like Turrican, not that cutesy flower-and-bunny crap they make nowadays. 3D space blaster games haven't been made in years.....at least none that actually use a controller......or they require so much micro-management now that they just get boring. Shmups are a long dead genre.

Yeah, I'm about done with gaming too. Pretty graphics aren't the only aspects of a good game.

At least I still have racing games....they haven't gone out of style yet. But that can only go so far before you want to play something different. Emu's and old games only go so far.

As far as women.....well, how hard is it to find some slut to bang? Not very. Nice thing about sluts is that you don't have to worry about them later, as long as you wore a condom, unlike GF's or wives that try to change or control you no matter what you do.
