Call of Duty 4 resolution problem

Hello, I have a problem I cannot solve myself.

I have to run CoD4 on 640x480 to get about 90 fps to play mp decently, but if I set the resolution, two black stripes on the sides of my screen appear. The aspect ratio in the game is set to 16:9, however this does not help.

I remember setting this thing somewhere in the catalyst control center of my ati graphics card, but as I have installed the latest software, I either cannot find it or it is just missing.

Please help, I am starting to be quite desperate. Thank you.

Graphics: ATi Mobility Radeon HD2400 XT
RAM: 4096Mb DDRII
OS: Win7 Ultimate x64

Yes, they have fudged up that one.

Open the CCC
From the drop down menu on the top left choose Desktops & Displays
Then you will see two monitors. One large that covers most of the window and one small on the bottom left. Right click on the one on the bottom left. Choose configure.
You will now be able to see the options for scaling.

Re: Call of Duty 4 resolution problem

Thank you, I have found it, but Scaling options are unavailable. The option "full screen" is checked, however It does not work as I would like. And I cannot change it. Is there anything else I have to enable/disable to make scaling changeable?

Re: Call of Duty 4 resolution problem

For some reason one nowadays has to be running the desktop in a non-native resolution in order to activate the panel scaling section, otherwise the controls will just stay grayed out. It's a bit of a hassle for sure.

Re: Call of Duty 4 resolution problem

Perhaps it is what mkk says. It works fine for me and it is at my native resolution.

Re: Call of Duty 4 resolution problem

non-native resolution means if I have 1280x800 by default, all others are non-native?

Re: Call of Duty 4 resolution problem

I have solved the problem. I changed the resolution to 1280x768 in ccc, then launched cod4, changed the resolution to 640x480, turned it off, then changed the screen resolution back to 1280x800 and checked cod4 again and problem was away. Thank you guys.

I hope reboot won't mess things back up.

Re: Call of Duty 4 resolution problem

Yes, try setting the desktop resolution to something like 1024x768.
