It is true I can't rate RPGs because I am not much fan of this genre of games but judging by the votes and people comments over the internet , the most agree the Dragon Age is the best RPG this year , however Gamespot decided to give Role-Playing GOTY award to Demon's souls instead. I don't ever think that any exclusive should win a general GOTY Award at all even it was brilliant. When I see the votes there on gamespot I found that 67% chose Dragon Age while 17 chose Demon's souls. I am wondering if GS or any similar site take bribes.


Wait : I just noticed that both Killzone2 and Uncharted 2 (both PS3 exclusives as well ) won Shooter , Action GOTY respectively. And Sims 3 for best Strategy WTF !

I disagree that an exclusive shouldn't win any such award. I don't see the logic behind it. A great game is a great game, no matter if you or I don't have the console to play it.

I can't talk about Demon Souls, I haven't played it, or even seen footage. I have only heard it is very hard and read it is action game, but I guess I am mistaken.


The award isn't a people's choice award, it is a Gamespot award, right? In that case, what people voted for is irrelevant.

What really is suprising is sims 3 winning in strategy where as it shouldnt have been at strategy category at all and secondly there are much better games like Down of War 2 and Dawn of Discovery ( my favorite strategy ) and even Hearts of Iron 3

When The Sims were first released, they were categorized (well, the game was) as strategy. A term that has remained for many gamers and reviewers for the series.
I wouldn't give it this award, but I can see how it could be worth it.

Lol, I like Gamespot now :P Demon's Souls and UC2 are brilliant and off course exclusives can win a GOTY. Sims 3 is a bit weird though yeah Killzone 2 is an excellent game and is a worthy contender for best GOTY shooter.

I have seen several videos of it, and while the game looks awesome and perhaps a must have, I can't for the life of me figure out how this game is an RPG.

That's what Reader's Choice GOTY polls are for, right?
Gamespot's GOTY polls are just basically recommendation lists, no one should take them too seriously.
