Microsoft Flight Sim+Share Aircraft Folder
Good Day,
I have both Microsoft Flight Simulater 2004 (FS 2004) and Microsoft Flight Simulater X (FSX) installed on my machine. I have 10.5GB of installed aircraft in each program. These AIRCRAFT FOLDERS have the SAME aircraft contained therein. My Question? How do I SHARE the SAME folder in both programs??? How do I get FS 2004 to use FSX's AIRCRAFT FOLDER??? This would allow me to DELETE FS 2004's AIRCRAFT folder. I want to direct FS 2004 to the aircraft folder in FSX and dump the duplicate folder in FS 2004. Thanks in advance, Jasper

Re: Microsoft Flight Sim+Share Aircraft Folder
(i know you cannot answer a question with a question(s) but...what is the difference between the two? is FSX mereley an expansion? or is it a complely different game? if the same aircraft are in both games...why not just use the newer version?)
as far as a response...i'm not a software engineer, but i would say it's all in the coding of the files. if the files are exactly identical down to the punctuation, then it should be possible. if they differ however there in would lay the problem. if one game is looking for "file.x" in folder "xx" for "XXX- aircraft left aileron"...then the directory shall point it out exactly. If the filepath deviates just a binary, it wouldn't be able to locate the file and your game would probably crash to desktop.

Re: Microsoft Flight Sim+Share Aircraft Folder
I don't think all aircraft are compatible with both versions of FS. Though, I'd guess that the ones compatible with FS 2004 is compatible with FSX

Re: Microsoft Flight Sim+Share Aircraft Folder
One of the biggest differences between FS9 and FSX will be in the PANELS.
FSX no longer supports some of the older .GAU files, and if you try to use an aircraft with those older .GAU files you will multiple warnings for each .GAU file that is in the panel.
