Re: Have you ever learnt from a game ?

I learned to be socially inept. One of the reasons I don't play games anymore, thanks to them I had an obvliviously blissful childhood but at the same time they ruined my later life.

Re: Have you ever learnt from a game ?

i played too many of them and it crippled my ability to relate with people for a long time. i only just recently learned how to relate properly, as you know too much of a good thing whatever it may be is bad.

Sounds like the problem is you. I play shitload of games all my life and I do fine with people.

Perhaps gaming has made you a little judgmental?

No, just stating facts. It's up to "you" how you read what I wrote. If you want to read it like I wrote in a....rude...way, it's up to "you", but I didn't.

You must have been an extreme gamer that you left no time to interact with other people. I am afraid I am as well. Playing for long hours in the same place might affect social relationships . However , with some organizing you could do well in both gaming and reality world.
Something like Multiplayer gaming also lets you take a rest from dealing with AI all the time and interact with real people while gaming. That's just my two cents.

Re: Have you ever learnt from a game ?

While multi-player gaming may help with some social aspects they cannot compensate for a real face to face conversation or flesh and blood friendship. My mother restricted my gaming time early on so I would develop some core skills and be able to socialize with others. It wasn't until I was out of high school that I started to heavily game but by then I was all set.

Another reason why I believe parents need to take an active role in all aspects of their child's life.

We didn't have computers and gaming when I was a kid.... I learned to be a recluse all by my self.

Re: Have you ever learnt from a game ?

I remember the first game I got addicted to - Runescape (lol) back when I was in grade 6 (2006). At first I was reluctant to play, but as I played more with my friends (who I knew in real life who introduced me to the game) I got more and more into it.
