Mass Effect 2 issue

Does anyone else seem to be having problems with Mass Effect 2 for PC? I am stuck in once certain spot in the game. I am in the debriefing room after recruiting thane. no matter what i do the game locks up in the exact same spot. i have tried different dialog options. i even played the mission over from the beginning. but as i finish the dialog, and as jacob leaves after thane, and the camera settles over the shoulder, the screen goes dark, but never loads. no controls work. open task manager to find that my cpu is 98%(all 4 cores!)and the unfriendly "MASS EFFECT 2: NOT RESPONDING" in the dialog box. this happens every...single....time. short from doing the cpu affinity "bandaid", and a fresh install i cannot play it. very frustrating. hope it's patched soon.

I'm not stuck as in game lockup but I am stuck clipping wise. I was walking towards the stairs and didnt' see that there's a box there, now my Sheppard won't get down from on top of this tiny box. The horrible thing is I have been playing for 2+ hours now and I forgot to save from the very beginning. lol. I have been looking for noclip commands but apparently there are none.

I would hate to repeat since I already just got Morlun plus the movie scenes are unskippable. argh.... lol.

nuclear did you replace the loading screens with the shorter me2 logo screens floating around online to quiken up loading? if so one needs to be set back to the default loading screen, i think it was 13, and if you dont have the original files they can be located on one of the disks

I got similar issues and the cause was overheating, when I looked at the temps during cutscenes they often went into the 80's. Cranking up the rpm worked for me. Another issue which causes some problems was forcing AA with Nhancer.

I only got the game last night and haven't had any issues like this so far. But, I've only played it about an hour and a half maybe.

But, for situations like this in other games where it's happened, I've had success saving the game at that point, exiting, then loading up the saved game. In most cases my character isn't stuck anymore. I guess I'll find out if this works or not in this game.

UPDATE: I'm now pretty far into the game. I've gotten Garrus, the Krogan, the Doctor, and "Jack" so far.

After playing for over 3 hours straight, I started noticing some choppiness in the game. So, I've taken a break for now.

I got out of that particular clipping issue but I got stuck in other levels. lol. I got stuck in the Cafe in that planet where you get the Assassin.

I've finished it twice now and trying to finish it in Insane mode but it's pretty damn hard.

I've been back at it now for a couple of hours and am on Ilium...where you talk to Liara and try to help Miranda's sister....plus confront The Assassin and another possible team mate.

Looks like I could be here for a while...and Mordin is waiting on his turn now, too.
