After reading a 10/10 review for Bioshock 2 I made a purchase..

I liked Bioshock but to me this game just seems exactly the same. In fact if anything it's not even as good. The graphics are looking very dated - its that very obvious textured geometrical look. Gameplay is dull - endlessly spawning bots, bots n more bots. Sound is also quite bad in terms of 3D positioning, you can't tell if an enemy is above you, behind a wall or stood right in front of you.

I'm pretty disappointed and I don't think this game deserves a 10/10

I'm waiting for them to fix it before I even give it a try, but according to reviews it doesn't seem to have anything new in it and I'm sceptical about the being a big daddy part. But how's the story, any good there that keeps it going despite the repetition?

I think it's very mediocre. I played it for about an hour and was not impressed even once. Then again, I thought the first one wasn't too amazing either; but it's still better than the sequel. I still have no idea why multiplayer even exists in a setting such as Rapture.

I've not been engaged by the story so far - again it plays out through the multitude of tape recordings left scattered around. Something about some female doctor/psychiatrist.

And yeah - playing as a Big Daddy you would have thought your character was quite robust but a few low level splicers can take you down with relative ease. It's the constant respawn of both you and enemies that takes any tension away from the game.

Yeah , the graphics and textures are very bad, I would give it 7/10 for the graphics . I think that's why the 2k said , we compromise some of the game elements to make the game typical on all platforms. It maybe good for a X360 game but for a PC game , especially when playing at high resolution , it is mediocre .

The story is the best part of the game to be honest , you will like it more near its end.

The game can be considered smaller than the first one , if you played it on normal difficulty you will beat it in less than 10 hours.

The voice acting is solid as well, actually I miss Andrew Ryan voice but you'll find some of his recordings at different parts in the game.

2k depend on the multiplayer part in this game , that's why the single player part is somewhat limited.

But the gameplay and AI are really improved in the is sequel.

I'm only 3-4 hours into the game and it's somewhat disappointing. I loved the first part, but there's not enough fresh ideas in this one, IMO. Some keys can't be remapped, which is always annoying. Also, medium difficulty is too easy and hard is a bit too tough, mostly because of the clumsy aiming system (maybe that's just me). It isn't bad, but it doesn't live up to the hype.

yeah , I don't like those round crosshairs in any game , at least they could make use choose between normal crosshairs or round or not at all. They've improved everything from the first game but still , you don't get the excitement like the first part because you have seen all of this before.

It doesn't have that "gotta play it" grab that the first one had for me. It really is more of the same, both graphically, and gameplay wise, but with a few hints of creativity in some areas.

- I like it, but don't love it.
- More of the same, but with some creative areas and mechanics.
- Some very cool new toys, plasmids, and gene tonics, however a lot of those same cool new toys, plasmids, and gene tonics are only useful when the story forces you to use them. Outside of that they are useless.
- Graphically identical to the first, but then again, that game is 3 years old.
- Interesting mulitplayer modes, but rather dull to actually play.
- Good story, but unless you find all the recordings it's not interesting enough on it's own.
- If you are a Big Daddy, why is it so easy for splicers, and especially other Big Daddies to take you down? And why is it harder for you to take them down?

Take your pick. My 2 biggest gripes right now is that we still have no widescreen fix, and in-game wise the handling of the Plasmids, specifically the inability to reorder them unless you have more Plasmids than you do slots (even then it's a long and tedious job to put them in the order you want), is killing me. Trying to switch to the Plasmid you want is a f**king pain in the ass during combat, especially when you have useless Plasmids cluttering up your list in between the good/useful ones.

The default keymapping is awful , very hard to change plasmid and weapons on the run.

This review is for the PC version , the reviewer seemed to be angry with the game as he mentions some of the stuff like ones Tipstaff mentioned.

Well I've changed my view - I actually enjoyed the game. The story does pick up as you progress and it's worth playing through twice to get all the nuances of the story.

You need to level up before the game starts to get fun. I made a critical error on my 1st playthrough - every time I hacked something I pressed B to hack and then pressed B again to stop the needle. However pressing B again just buys out the hack and so I played through the game with next to no cash. I didn't notice that till the end

Some of my criticisms stand, the graphics are a bit dated (low polygons) and the vita-chambers remove the tension from the game but I have noticed you can turn them off.

I got the sunny skies ending...

If the game had more focus on weapons and weapon handling instead of "magic", if the game was more strictly FPS instead of this....hybrid, then I would have enjoyed it more.

I am not going to even bother with Bioshock 2.

Bioshock is one of the few games that makes me distrust game reviewers and view them as little more than paid fanboys . I enjoyed Bioshock and was satisfied with the amount of time it took to finish it but had it gone on much longer I could just as easily have hated the game. A sequel that doesn't bring much new to the table stirs up that feeling and I'm going to avoid Bioshock 2 for as long as possible. Someday, when I'm really bored and laid up with a broken leg or something then I will give it a shot.

Played it last night over at my brother's place. Graphics is rubbish. I remember the first one they said they had to bring in two programmers specifically to write codes for water behaviour. For some reason in Bioshock 2 the water looks like crap and obviously just transparent animating texture (and jittery animation at that). Whenever you knock over stuff too it has a jittery movement :/ shit physics.

Bioshock 2 claims 3D Vision is supposed to work out of the box too but its horrible as there are a lot of cloudiness and graphical errors compared to other out of the box 3D Vision games that aren't even listed on the Nvidia site. They got really lazy in making this sequel. Everything makes me feel like it was a rush job.

They said they are making Bioshock 3 as well.
btw , the supposed "DLC" was already on the disc , it is just unlocks it.

That's trully one of the worst's DLC I've ever seen for the content...
The reason to unlock it's to be able to play with people who doesn't have it for what I understood.

I still remember to good old Age of Empires II Conquerors expansion... or the Brood War...

1st was ok, played ... end it and thats it. Second is just not worth the money they want for it, for me another try to suck up our hard earned cash.
