Recommendations needed for good driving games....

I'm using Win 7 and just upgraded to a new 24' monitor as well and looking for a driving game that does 1920x1080 that plays well.

I've got a couple of the Need for Speed series but they are all old and the res doesn't go up as high as I would like it to. I've got a couple of Nascar games as well, but same issue there, they are old and res doesn't max out.

I'm looking for more realistic games, nothing like Mario Carts or anything like that.

I've seen some off brand company series but not sure what they would be like and don't have the money to buy something just to find out it doesn't work so I figured I'd ask around and see what's out there first to at least get an idea of what to look at.

Does DiRT 2 do that res? Great game and should handle something like that......

Re: Recommendations needed for good driving games....

Perhaps you could try Burnout Paradise. I wouldn't really call it realistic, but it's not less realistic than NFS games (at least the ones I've played, I think that the Most Wanted demo was the last one). On the other hand, it's fun (a combination of racing, stunts and road rage for the heck of it, on and off line) and it will look and play nicely on your monitor and graphics cards with full eye-candy. There is a demo, so, unless you're positive that you want to go for realism right now, give it a go.

Race Driver GRID is one of the better racing games of the past few years and should work well on your system. (Also quite cheap now that Dirt 2 is out)

Well, I must admit that I dont like Burnout Paradise, dont like arcade feel.

IvanV you should try NFS shift, I tried to play at my friend with better PC and game is great, not simulation, but has elements of simulation.

So, my advice is, anyone who is interested in real racing simulation, should try GTR2 or WTCC game released by SIMBIN, they released many racing titles using same graphic engine only changing cars(licenced), maps, levels.....

I forgot to mention how Dirt 2 is great game also, everyone should try it.

Re: Recommendations needed for good driving games....

Wait wait , How did I missed tis thread , definitely Grid , Grid , Grid . The best realistic racing game IMO and my favorite one , great details and car model . Also many difficulties. Didn't try dirt 2 but if you like dirt racing then go for it.

You have Ati card , so If I were you I would avoid NFS Shift , it runs crap on Ati card.

Did I recommended Grid for you.

Grid is what you're after Haven't played dirt 2 so can't comment there, but as it's newer I would assume it looks better.

Re: Recommendations needed for good driving games....

Grid, Shift but don't ignore some of the older games like Race Driver 3 which has more content than all the latest race games put together.

Shift for me, is the only title where racing in the cockpit feels right.

It's about time for a new good Formula 1 sim game. Hasn't happened much since GP4.
