FFXIII Discussion

I'm about 12 hours in, extremely well done game. Heavily polished, worth the wait. The linearity is not a big problem to me, and its not like it hasn't happened before. FFX was very linear until the end as well. Anyways, battle system is absolutely ridiculous. Battle require strategy earlier on compared to other games, opposed to just alternating enemies and tanking for the first 15 hours of battles. The videos are not exagerations of the battles.

Grab this for the PS3, running 1080p and losless audio on the cutscenes is amazing. Years ago I bought the ps3 for this game, I was a bit mad at first being multi-platform, but PS3 version is superior (no this isn't fanboyism). Music is probably one of the best since FF8 and a nice rich story where the characters come to life more than the last game. The concepts a bit complicated to grab at first, but its quite original with the usual final fantasy "upper being" elements.

This comes from a person who hates Anime, J-pop/korean music & love stories (and public displays of love affection). What do you guys think?

My daughter-in-law is playing this every spare moment she has on the X-360. The 360 is connected to a SONY Bravia 32 in HDTV. Looks amazing!

In fact, this is the game she was playing last week when the drunk driver knocked out our power for 5 hours.

Re: FFXIII Discussion

i'm only 8-10 hours in, on the 360. little disappointed with the linearity. I'm not liking the "Battle -> cutscne -> battle" cycle, with no real npc's, towns, exploration or freedom. I do like the characters, music and detail though.

Re: FFXIII Discussion

yes, ffx was also linear in the sense. But there was still some exploring, going to town to gear up, talking to NPCS, sidequests, side games; not Hack Slash - Cutscene - Repeat.
