Has the game gotten -any- better? I was far from impressed with any aspect except when flying the ship.

There was a notice online about the limited testing period ... which, IIRC, ended yesterday. (Will correct this if I'm wrong.)

But, by playing on the Tribble Test Server for at least an hour during this time, the player will receive some special unlocked "goodies" once "Season One" releases on the 25th.

The best way to keep up with these notices is to check the News posts on the STO Forums.

BTW, I'm now at Cmdr. Grade 10 and not too far from reaching Capt.

"Is the game any better?" Well, I guess it depends on just what you like in a game AND whether you really like Star Trek-related things. I can say that the devs are really working to fix problems as well as to create some new content.

I got my promotion to Captain and got my new ship: A DEFIANT Class Tactical Escort. AND, man, I'm tellin' you, it's ROCKS!!!

I've been hording some good stuff in the bank and equipped this ship with some real nasty weapons and components. Just went up against some Jem'Hadar Battleships and Galors that are 3 - 4 levels above me. I'm telling you, they never stood a chance! LOL!

Yes...I gotta edit that post.

What WAS on my mind was that the Defiant was used to go up against the DOMINION.

BTW, I just went up against 5 more Jem'Hadar ships: 3 Galor and 2 Battleships. The Battleships are 3+ levels above me and do present a really nice challenge. But, so far, I've taken out 4 of them without getting myself blown to smithereens.

1)Are ships locked to specific classes of characters?
2)Is the galaxy class of ship available to control?

1) when you reach new levels you get new ships... you can keep the old...
2) yes it is at the captain level.

I was given the impression that certain trees can't get certain ships. For example (not saying it is accurate even this one) an Engineer player can't get an Escort class ship, no matter what the rank.

The Galaxy class is calling me.

Every time you get promoted in rank the ship master asks what type of ship, Escort, Science ship or Cruiser you would like to get. And you can get the other types for amount of energy credits if you like...

So when (if) I get promoted to the appropriate rank, I will be asked among others if I want an Exploration Cruiser, and I will be given one of the 3 types at random? If I then want a Galaxy (and wasn't given one) I can buy one with energy?

You are not arbitrarily assigned a ship upon promotion. Once you get the appropriate recognition for the promotion, you can then go to the Ship Requisition Officer and SELECT the ship you want.....depending on the credits you have toward the ships. On each promotion, I could select between Science, Escort, or Cruiser. It matters not what class you have assigned to yourself. What you do is get Bridge Officers to round out the abilities/skills needed to handle the ship.

And if you like you can go to the ship customization officer and change the ship look. I always mix up ship layouts. Just to have not so common ship look...

There was a nearly full day's worth of frustration for people who, for whatever currently unannounced reason, the server wasn't Retrieving the Character data.

I tried getting in the game after I got home and it was a couple of hours later before I could get my character retrieved and get an hour or so of progress under my belt.

They HAVE, however, offered some nice treats for the Lifers.

But, maybe I should actually thank them for the server trouble. I spent the time getting my State Tax Return taken care of and eFiled.
