Settlers 7
I've been a fan of the Settlers game series ever since the first Settlers on my Amiga's. Though, there have been bad ones and good ones. Some I've played right through, some I've started and then ditched. No version has given me as much joy as the original though and I still play that on my Amiga 4000 from time to time.
Just saw there's this new version on Steam. €50 is a bit much in my opinion without knowing if it's any good so I want to ask if anyone's tested it and likes it. Graphics looks nice on the screenies at least. |

Re: Settlers 7
Unfortunately Settlers 7 have the new Ubisoft scheme which makes you unable to play even the singleplayer missions if your internet connection is ever unavailable. Just so that you're warned.
I'd like to play a game of this type and might have given Settlers 7 a try even though the series has been pretty shaky with bugs and drops in design quality. But with this online scheme I can't be bothered. |

Re: Settlers 7
It looks good, but as others, there is no way in Hell I am going to buy a game infested with this DRM and I have plenty of other games right now to get a pirated version of the game.

Ah, then that settles it for me. I'll just stick to the original!

Re: Settlers 7
Yes unfortunately protection of the recent games are a pain in the ass for normal legal costumers not for the pirates ... Assasins Creed 2 was cracked so the problem with Settlers 7 will not be there for long time now and the protection of these games are exactly identical with some changes in the code.

Re: Settlers 7
I want to pay for my games, no question about that. Now I can afford to as well so there's no excuse whatsoever not to.
But, I won't ever buy a game that forces me to be online all the time when it's a one player game. Not gonna happen, ever. It doesn't matter how good the game is. I want to be able to chose to have my connection live or not, and sometimes I don't have a choise because no connection is 100% anyway. Online games are another matter, but then I pay for the online experience, for the interaction with other players. I'll just stick to the original settlers. It was the best of them all anyway!
