Anybody Use a Flash Drive instead of HDD with 360 ??

like it says, apparently you can use up to a 16GB flash drive instead of a HDD, so has anybody here tried it ??

need to get a hdd for the kids new xbox, and was gonna get a 20gb off ebay to keep her going until we can afford a decent sized one later, but i was wondering about this whole flash drive business.
my thinking is, cos its probably not a truly long term solution anyway, at least when we upgrade to a decent sized hdd i'll have another good sized flash drive to use

so do they work ok then ?? (flash drives that is)
does it noticeably slow down regular use at all using a flash drive ahead of a hdd?
and can you transfer everything onto a new drive later like you can with hdd?

can you tell i don't know jack about 360's..

wow.... 16gb flash drive, a good quality one that would be able to perform close to on par with the 20gb HD would cost as much if not more then the 20gb. (at least for me)

wouldn't be worthwhile..

I've a 32gb flash drive OCZ ATV that smokes along at a rate that's pretty crazy for bandwidth~> read/write sustains of the maximum USB 2.0 spec

yeah, i know that, and i'm not bothered by it (cos like i said, when i upgrade the hdd later for a decent sized one i'll have a nice fast flash drive to use)
question is, have you tried it ?
i'm worried about the speed factor tbh, don't want to spend on a pricey(ish) flash drive, only to find its just too slow compared to the hdd.

honestly i think there will be far to much overhead for the USB flash drives on the xbox360 even the fastest ones won't be able to touch the 20gb drives...

but i'm just guessing... i've actually a xbox360 right here beside me without a hardrive in it (sold it) and a 8gb ocz Rally 2 Flash drive that i could try and comment on.... i'll fire it up, just need to grab an VGA adapter for it... will have to try after dinner in about 3 hours.

I've been side tracked by work, and then when i DID have a second, i forgot the damn vga adapter to attach to a monitor..
