FlatOut - Ultimate Carnage
I'm a bit surprised that there is no discussion thread about this game. Or, at least one didn't show up after a search for "Carnage."
Anyway, both FlatOut and FlatOut 2 were games I really enjoyed playing. I actually enjoyed the stunts in the original more so than the sequel. But, I've played both of those games through several times. I remember a while back when my older son picked up "Ultimate Carnage" for his XBOX 360. For some reason or another, I thought the title was a console-only title. So, it kind of caught me off guard earlier today when I was up at Micro Center and saw a Games for Windows version on the shelf for only $9.99. It definitely is just an upgraded version of FO2, though. But, man, what an upgrade it is! It's a gorgeous-looking game with 12 cars on the tracks instead of 8. And, there's actually water in the water canal races. ![]() Didn't anyone else bother to get this version? If not before, it's dirt cheap now and well worth the price and improvements. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: FlatOut - Ultimate Carnage
I played a flatout game - can't remember which - some time ago and it was awesome. I'll check if it was carnage and, if not, buy carnage :P

Re: FlatOut - Ultimate Carnage
I played and finished the first 2 games, but I couldn't make myself want to play them again since then. I found myself having zero reason to go back since having unlocked the best car possible and upgraded it. Why play with a lesser car? I also never found the mini games as interesting, funny, worthwhile or any of the other positive things most reviewers seem to.
After the developers chose to forget about the PC with their third game to focus on the consoles, I was angry. So when their third game sold very bad, they decided to revisit the PC segment they showed their middle finger to when they got famous after the first 2 games. To which I said "frak you" and never bought any of their games again. I am glad you are enjoying the game, but I am not touching it even for 9.99. Hell, I guess I will buy the game eventually, when it reaches 50 cents in price.

Re: FlatOut - Ultimate Carnage
@BlueMak: I can totally understand your sentiments.
After working very closely with nFusion for a few years on their games, [Deadly Dozen; Deadly Dozen: Pacific Theater; Line of Sight: Vietnam, and Elite Warriors: Vietnam] the last title I heard them working on was a "360 Exclusive" and I doubt anyone heard about it. But, for the price of a good lunch, I can stomach this really good "upgrade" to the previous title in this series. It's likely the last one they'll have made anyway. At least I haven't heard of anymore in the pipe. Here's a link to an uploaded "Last Lap-Finished First" video I captured using FRAPS. The video has been compressed down to 32 MB from over 4 GB of AVI. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDHVge7ePdU EDIT: Another video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBHM5ROIz4o I have to admit that I'm finding this 'enhanced" version completely as addictive as the previous ones were for me. I know it's a matter of personal preference/taste, but, I'm really NOT a racing game fanatic. I've tried several demos of the others. I enjoyed driving the cars/taxis around in Mafia and even in Far Cry 2, but, the regular racing sims just don't do it for me. These, however, have so much chaos, mayhem, and outright destruction going on it's just hard for me to NOT enjoy them.
