Alpha Protocol
Anyone interested in it? I read a few things and watched videos and the game looks really good. Like Mass Effect one only as a modern day James Bond.

Also no word about multiplayer, which hopefully means a good single player game too.

Good enough for me. What makes it better though is that it is rated M. I didn't know that. Very nice.

I am tempted to not get RDR next month and get this instead. Missions where you (at least in part) survey, or talk to contacts in shops, and other spy things.

I hope there is a review before the end of the month and some info on the PC version.

Not surprisingly says the graphics are not perfect (can be seen from the screenshots and videos released so far), and the enemy AI is not very good. (I can't say I worry about it much)

High replayability and overall a very good game.

Not sure I trust the review, he sounds way too hostile and some of the things he say are not necessarily bad, just presented as such, but, it is a very negative review that if accurate, makes the game a clear miss.

Well, FWIW, I already got my pre-purchase out of the way and am eagerly awaiting June 1 so I can get started.

And, for another FWIW, I have found that bit-tech tends to bad mouth a lot. Just for the record.

Per G4, here's a little synopsis of a preview session:

I’ve been playing a beefy preview version of the game for the last few nights, and after not really having seen it since E3 two years ago, there was a lot to wrap my head around. If you must use a template for mental comparison, you’d be best off with using MASS EFFECT. Alpha Protocol is similarly mission-based, with an emphasis on investigating the threads of an overarching plot, and a combination of shooting things/sneaking around things/using tech and skills to disable things.

It looks like Mass Effect and the premise is interesting. First I've heard of the game though so it doesn't have a huge marketing campaign like ME, probably why the reviewers aren't giving the fanboy love they reserve for the big games.

Both games by Royal Mail.

It also says

I hope so, cause if I knew I would have to wait till the end of June, I would buy RDR and leave AP for July.

The release date, at least for Europe, is the 28th of May.
I placed my order on the 27th. Chances are if I ordered it earlier, I would already have the game now.

Hopefully early next week they will be here. So far comments from other uses are very good, apart from a few giving negative points for the game not being a shooter or for not using the latest pixel shaders.

I very likely have used GameStop's Digital download service for the first and last time.

My order is still in the "Pending" state and I can't get a response from anyone as to what is the hold up.

Steam, here I come!!!

UPDATE: Well, the purchase finally was processed and I"m about 13 minutes away from completing the download. The file is 10.69 GB in size and I'll have downloaded it in about one hour 30 minutes at a constant 2 Mbytes/sec. Not bad...not bad at all.

BUT, all the interviews I've read said that this DRM would allow 5 installs. But, the email I got from GameStop says it's limited to 3. Does anyone else have a handle on this?

Game installed, have played through a good portion of Intro Tutorial and am liking it so far.

It took some time to figure out how they are doing the Hack Computer system, though. But, I've made it through Basic and am ready for the Interrogation Room now.

The game is playing absolutely incredibly nice on my system using 3x1 Eyefinity. The Unreal Engine never looked so good!

UPDATE:

After playing a few hours, I have to wonder if the negative reviews are due to the reviewers playing some "alpha" build of the game?

The game is very well done, IMHO, and I'm quite enjoying it!

I've, so far, completed three missions. I opted to play as a "Freelancer" and have leveled up to Level 4 so far.

The only real "glitch" I've encountered is an occasional instance where I selected to do hand-to-hand combat and my character doesn't move close enough to do any damage. BUT, on one occasion, I also beat the crap outta four guys who ganged up on me. LOL! [I wish I had the video of that one! ]

Isn't anyone else interested enough in this to try it?

As for the computer hacking: It did take me a while to catch on, but, after about 4 hacks, I got the system down and am doing quite well now with it.
