I never even heard of this game till few days ago. Few videos of it made it interesting enough to look for more info on it.

Today I tried the PS3 demo. I will be brief.

Graphics, awesome with a usual dosage of lower than 1080p resolution and no AA.

Handling of the car, good arcade.

Sound, good I think. Too busy in my ears.

I am not convinced yet how the in game powerplay thing will work in the long run. So far it makes it way way way too easy to destroy an opponent and it requires the bare minimum of skill to acquire powerplay eh power. I am afraid it might be a game killer.

The cars look fantastic.

Last but not least, WTF is wrong with the speed? I don't know if it is just me, but everything seems to be going at slower speed. So, when I am supposed to be going say 100mph, it feels like I am doing 10. It doesn't get any better till after long stretches of constant acceleration that it feels like I am in a race.
I am not sure yet if it is a framerate issue or something else.

I will check later, if I remember, any Xbox 360 demo of the game and see how it is there. I haven't seen a PC demo yet.

Visually the game is a stunner. I am just not sure about the whole speed issue.

At least for the PS3. No idea how the PC version will be.

I see many publishers tend not to release PC demo of their games, Dunno why but anyway this game looks fun and probably the multiplayer is gonna be the best part of the game if there any.

I just tried the 360 demo. I don't know if it is me but it looked more blurry in the far diistance than the PS3 version, and the car less responsive. With a touch of slower frame rate.
I will try them both again later to make sure.

The one thing this game has is the graphics and the cars. They are so beautiful!

There is a demo just released
Split/Second Demo Screeches Onto PC

I just finished 3 races of it (PC).

First the bad things.
Resolution, aspect ratio, graphics and all kind of settings, are disabled for the demo. I don't know why or how that fairs for the full game, but I don't like it.


That's it.

Now the good things.
Even at whatever setting it runs, and 4:3 resolution, the game looks, plays and feels as a AAA production.
The car controls better than the 360 version and I think than the PS3 too.
The game looks better, than either of the console editions even with the bad point mentioned before.
The enemy AI seems to work and try to stop you. That was not the case with the other two demos where you had to try to not finish first.
This feels like the proper version of the game.


Conclusion.
If the full game has the proper options, this game is a blast to play. Worth getting it.

From what I have read and watched, Blur is like a kart racer (mario kart etc) only with proper cars.

Split/Second is more pure racer (not completely of course).

Also, thanks to WD for 40$ price tag on the PC , this forced activision to lower Blur price to be at the same level.
From what I read about Blur , there is no key binding . On the other hand Split/Second doean't have detailed graphics setting (Just low/medium/high).
However Split/second isn't available on steam just on D2D.

Yesterday I installed and played around with the demo briefly and thought to myself "this is too arcady for me".

But since my order for the full version already arrived, I picked it up a few hours ago and installed it a few minutes ago while thinking I wouldn't like it.

After tinkering with the options, I saw "Split Screen". Lo and behold, this is the racing feature I've been looking for for ages! This allows two players to race simultaneously on the same keyboard.

Thanks for pointing out this game, Blue! My son and I will have a blast with this!

First of all, you are welcome.

Few days ago I installed the new/"multiplayer" demo on the PS3. It includes another track (and cars) for a single player race. It also has, of course, a multiplayer race which is taking place on another (third) track. I played the single player track several times, I enjoyed it a lot. As for online, I play a few hours each day every day! I am kidding you not, this is a superb multiplayer arcade racer.

I have some money this month (my bday and all) and I was between getting NFS HP and this. Thanks to the international woman warrior, I ended up getting Split/Second (PS3), Alan Wake (360) and Red Dead Redemption (PS3) for under £50 all three!!!
It was either them or just NFS HP and I can't say I had to think hard to reach a decision. (I am going to get NFS HP when it is much lower in price).

What I am trying to say is, if anyone here has Split Second (or RDR) for the PS3, add me on PSN! (Trusteft)

I was wrong about Blur, I tried the demo (PS3) and it was a fun kart style racer. As long as you don't expect anything else, it is a very good game, but, heavily focused on online.

I am not sure what you mean about the layouts for controls. I had to play it with the dualshock 3 (duh) and found it very controllable and with zero issues regarding controls.
Unless you hate gamepads (why on Earth?), there is nothing wrong that I can think of about the controls.
