Recommend me a game for the wifey
Hello folks! Been playing a lot of FPS and RTS games for my son and I to the point that the wifey has already complained she has no new 3D game for her to play. Last game she really liked was SIMS3. FPS, RTS, RPG doesn't interest her that much.
She wants to know if there's a new "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" game, but when I search throughout the net, I can only find DOS version. So she mostly do Popcap games, but she wants to try new 3D games. Care to recommend something that women like? Thanks in advance! |

Re: Recommend me a game for the wifey
I would think she'd love Syberia and Syberia II. They are adventure games with some of the most astounding graphics and puzzles. The story is very intriguing and immersive.
I recently, just last year, played them through again and couldn't recommend them any more highly. The main character, Kate Walker, is an attorney who is sent from New York to an Alpine village to handle the paperwork in a takeover of a toy shop. Ooopppssss!!!! Not toy shop...but Animatronics shop! ![]() It's a point n click game but very stunning detail. For a response after first finishing it.... check this post... Syberia - Released in USA - $24.99! |

World of Goo, not 3D, just fun. I was surprised of how much I enjoyed it. Most of my (girl)friends enjoyed it too.

Beyond Good and Evil (the game not the book)
Tropico 3 Most of the games I play have some sort of violence, either in 3D or not. Is she ok with that? What about racing games? From the mid 90s till today there is a huge number of first person adventure games in 3D. She is not interested in adventure games either?

Re: Recommend me a game for the wifey
Whew. I didn't realize its hard to find games here that are women-friendly like Syberia.
I'll try to look for the World of Goo, Sihastru. Anything that even remotely suggests violence is a no-no for her, BlueMak. Racing games doesn't interest her as well. Tropico is something like Far Cry, no? I'll check on Beyond Good and Evil. I think she likes Adventure type of games...I'm not really sure what this genre means but if its something similiar to Syberia, then yes. Maybe something like a Nancy Drew game? Puzzles, adventures, travels...these kinds of stuff... |

Re: Recommend me a game for the wifey
Dude, women are not imbeciles. Women can and do enjoy FPS and other violent games just fine. It's not in the sex, it's in the person.
Beyond Good and Evil has some violence. Tropico has you as a dictator (think Castro) of a Caribbean island nation. It's a strategy game where you choose to contstruct buildings, to give and take from the people etc. Think of SimCity only more recent. Syberia is one type of adventure yes. There are many many adventure games. My advice to you is to go to a site, for example GamersGate - Buy and download games for PC and Mac now and click on the tabs on the top like Adventure or Casual and browse through the games there. If you see something you like, either ask here or acquire the game in any way you want. You can do the same through other sites like steampowered etc.

Re: Recommend me a game for the wifey
What about something like Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 or maybe something like Civ IV? More thinking and strategy games but might work. RCT3 is a little old but you should be able to find it cheap. There was an old game that might interest her, Myst or something if I remember right. Can't think of anything else at the moment.
It's a FPS style of game but what about something like Portal as well? Last edited by jandarsun8; Jun 3, 2010 at 05:20 PM. |

Re: Recommend me a game for the wifey
Adventure or point and click games seems to be a good fit for her. Check out Bigfish Games. I bought their entire Sherlock Holmes collection for my sister from them, as well as the Nancy Drew series too. They also have both Syberia 1 and 2 (a 1.2GB download) each for $6.99.
Also, check out Steam. In particular look at the Lucas Arts Adventure pack, which includes games like The Dig, Loom, and the Indiana Jones series. There's also the Longest Journey series. In fact, Steam as the Longest Journey bundle that includes the first game and 2nd game, Dreamfall, for $25. A a couple others to look at : Braid (highly addictive action/strategy platformer), and Machinarium. |

Re: Recommend me a game for the wifey
I missed post #8. lol Yeah there were some missions where I have to rocket launcher the middle eastern guy. lol so definitely not for those who dislike violence in games.
How about Mr. Driller? IIRC there was a PC port of that Sega Dreamcast game. How about the Monkey Island games? Those was rated 10+ IIRC. Also there are some point and click mystery games from indie game studios, none of the titles come to mind right now though. lol. I'll look through my PC Mag collection. |

Another vote for Dreamfall. I hear Indigo Prophecy is also good. FWIW, my sister likes Patrician III and Thief: Deadly Shadows.

Re: Recommend me a game for the wifey
Syberia is easy to buy, and quite cheap. Check out Big Fish Games. Syberia and Syberia II are available there for $7, as well as PopCap games for that price and many other casual games (my favourite casual genre is the hidden object games).

Re: Recommend me a game for the wifey
Well, we actually had internet connection re-installed at home so now she's back to using Facebook's Cafe World 8 hours a day!
As for me, I just installed Bioshock 1 and 2, Dirt1 and Resident Evil 5 over the last several days but haven't found the time to play with these as the wifey is busy with her Cafe World ![]() (I also got in touch with my local PC game supplier to find most of the games listed in this thread, so I'm still waiting for their availability) |

There is a new expansion for Sim3 just released. Maybe worth checking as well. Try this site for indie games list as well. there is no hardcore games there but could be interesting in a way or another.

Re: Recommend me a game for the wifey
For my wife, two recent wins were:
Ghost Master Ghost Master - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Don't let the title's age fool you, it was a lot of fun for her. The Settlers: Rise of an Empire The Settlers: Rise of an Empire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia She loves this game. And there always Rollercoaster Tycoon 3.

I recommend those trendy new stock trading online games...I hear you can win all sorts of prizes...
They say the game is so real you will "consider suicide when you lose badly" sounds nice and immersive...as all good games should be... |
