Mouse-only games suggestions?
I need some recommendations for mouse-only PC games, the type that require virtually no keyboard input to play. This is for my wife of course, who lately has been complaining that she can't get any gaming done with our 16 months old daughter on her lap. (Hey, I take my shift babysitting when she's at work.)
She's into adventure, mystery, strategy, RPG, etc. Loves Sherlock Holmes, but we have most of them. Loves Dragon Age, but that requires a lot of keyboard. Loves Civilization-type games. Hates The Sims. Any suggestions? Prefer recent (past two years) titles, as she's got most of the older ones. |

Re: Mouse-only games suggestions?
well that rules out my idea of the original Secret of Monkey Island.
pretty sure that could be entirely completed with just the one hand ![]() you tried starcraft / warcraft / DoW type games ??? i've never tried, but off the top of my head i reckon Starcraft has buttons all over the screen that you can click with mouse, rather than using the keyboard. i think anyway.. |

Re: Mouse-only games suggestions?
Titan quest can be played without using the keyboard, and it is a light version of Dragon Age.
There are many similar games. Space Siege, winSPMBT (though too hardcore for most people), Europa Universalis series, Peggle Nights, Audiosurf, Armada 2526, Restricted Area, StarWolves 3, Sword of the Stars, Tropico, etc. It would be far easier if you ask for one specific type of game.

Re: Mouse-only games suggestions?
I ordered Arcanum, Titan Quest, and Drawn: The Painted Tower. Not really recent titles, but they looked okay.
She's got Starcraft. Doesn't like Warcraft. And I've no idea what DoW is. Audiosurf would drive me nuts, so that's not happening. |

For Arcanum (one of the best RPG ever IMO), make sure to choose turn based battles. Else you will have to use the spacebar to pause the game every few seconds. DoW is probably Dawn of War. A RTS game.

You should tell her dota is NOT warcraft, but a map on warcraft as you know, once she plays it she'll be hooked.

Re: Mouse-only games suggestions?
It more of an arcade type game, but Ricochet Infinity can be a lot of fun. I got it from STEAM, but it's available from other sources as well.
Here's a good vid showing it off very well: YouTube - Ricochet Infinity (1/2) Another option is to try using Voice Activated Commands to issue keyboard commands. I use it with IL2, HL2, Far Cry 2, and Fallout 3. It's not free, but does have a 30 day uncrippled trial period. It's VERY easy to make profiles, and it will work for just about ANY application that uses keyboard commands, not just games. Home

Re: Mouse-only games suggestions?
Find a good place to camp (using the keyboard) then have hours of fun camping and killing noobs in cod4!

Re: Mouse-only games suggestions?
The vast majority of casual games are mouse only. From Plants vs. Zombies to hidden object adventures, they all just use the keyboard. Take a look at the games available at Big Fish Games. I know you're thinking of more hardcore games, but I found out that small kids and hardcore games don't mix well. My particular favourites at the moment are hidden object games with no time limits.
BTW, you're on borrowed time, I'd say. 16 months is borderline before she hogs the PC. Mine is 22 months old soon, and has been enjoying pressing the power button for a while now (not to mention other keys, but the power button has special appeal), and in recent months has also started demanding to watch youtube every time I sit on the laptop (shouldn't have exposed here to that). So my gaming is pretty limited to the time she's asleep and I'm awake at night with the one month old on my shoulder (waiting for the burp). |

Re: Mouse-only games suggestions?
BTW, if you're interested in checking out the hidden object adventure genre, the current "catch of the week" ($2.99 special) at Big Fish Games, Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, is a pretty decent example of the genre. I tried the trial today then bought the game. It's said to be quite short, but for $2.99 I definitely think I'm getting value for money.
