I didn't expect it to piss me off so much, but it did. I decided to load the previous level, Child, to go back to the "shop" and get some filters. After replaying that bit I couldn't buy any filters because he didn't sell any filters. I said "FRAK", I was ready to uninstall the game. I changed the difficulty setting to Easy. I continued and oh a miracle! every 2 meters 5-6 filters ready to be picked up. Exaggeration but you get it. I am tempted to continue on Easy.

haha yes, the game on the harder difficulties can get very frustrating. I think there's a brand new mask though right after you get rid of the child. like as soon as you go outside and there's a big ol' group of dudes you gotta avoid. In the process of hiding from them I found a brand new mask, along with a good position suitable for raining down death upon the unsuspecting squad (I'm trying not to give away too much, as some people hate being guided through the game, and would much rather find stuff on their own).

I forget what difficulty level I was playing on (most likely normal or something along the lines of that) but I didn't die too horribly due to lack of mask at that part. Other parts, yah, plentifully

What I did at that part was rush across the "room" to the part where I can go up and found the troops walking towards me in a fine line. I unleashed hell, they all died pretty quickly with headshots. I am in a level (trying not to give anything away) where I met the "librarians". MFers! The Kalash 2012 is next to useless, I had to get an automatic shotgun and aim for nothing but the head. With my handgun I need something like 18 bullets at (or I guess near since I can't say 100% all of them hit it) the head to kill one. Yes yes I know I could follow the advice given to me about them, but, where is the fun in letting them live?

Haha yes, that's the part I was talking about, running out of ammo, and headshots being handy. I had not even close to enough ammo to kill all the librarians though, so some desperate running/stealth was used in that general area. Also, whatever you do, don't stick them with a grenade.

This is where I became aware of another frustrating practice of the game: you pick what looks like at least 8 shotgun shells, switch to the shotgun, and your ammo says you have 2 shotgun shells now! So you keep running, hoping and praying that no one will hear you, but they do, and your 2 shotgun shells do nothing!! aarrrghh.

I just finished the game. It was an interesting experience, a good fun FPS. I wouldn't call it the best FPS of the year, but it is worth the price of admission, especially if you buy it on sale.

It's not that long, it's just that at times you need to take your time, and all the reloads, which make it feel longer than it is.

Some tips on weapons, there is no miracle weapon. No weapon is the cure or the "best" one. If you are careful you can finish the game with any combination. The issue is the ammo. Sniper sights etc are not that worth the price. The only thing that is very good is the laser sight where available.

Just make sure you have plenty of ammo, some stealth weaponry, even throwing knives, extra armor, and when you shoot, take your time with the aiming, aim for the head, but don't stand still. (I like comas)


I am considering going for a second playthrough, just not sure if I will do it tonight or in a few days.

One last thing, if you are worried about graphics power needed, you are correct, sort of. If you want to play the game at high resolutions and highest settings and DX11, you need a monster or two to help you. For me to achieve constant great framerate, no slowdowns, I had to
1)disable my second gpu because it was overheating.
2)lower the resolution to 1280x800
3)although I had no problem in terms of speed to play the game at high details, it was causing havoc with laser sight/light. It was fixed by going to medium detail settings.
4)Even at medium settings (DX10), the game is one of the most beautiful FPS out there.

I am waiting for the DLC to be released (today?) for the PC, being free and all.

I think I will still start a new game on normal difficulty and try the more unconventional weapons.
Then for a third play through I will try the new (DLC) Ranger mode. That should be fun.

Oh, if you have the Xbox 360 version, the DLC should be online now, although not free because of MS.

I just started playing this game and its the only game that gave me motion sickness in 3D Vision so far. lol.

Don't get me wrong, it works great in 3D (especially the scenes where you have to do melee like in the tunnel chase scene at the beginning) but since everything else is very dark and your field of view is only in the middle most of the time when you have the flashlight on, your eyes work extra hard trying to see things. The only other game that came close to making me vomit was Deadspace (very dark scenes + over the shoulder view).

go to appdata/local/4.... and open the user.cfg
Do the same for the same file located in the installation folder of the game in Steam.
Change both files so that the line fov something from 45 is 60 or something.
Problem solved.

I started a new game, going through it much faster. Less scary this time, but still fun.
