Re: StarCraft II Thread
agreed BBP, I'm going to replay the entire campaign again from the start, once I finish playing Starcraft and Broodwar first
![]() Random idea: I'd like to see the UED come back in a later installment, but as a noticeably different faction (different units/strengths etc) - not sure how balanced it'd be though

I still haven't bought this. Even though being a long time fan of the series and I have a bunch of friends that do have it.
When I do buy it, I will be putting up screen shots. |

Re: StarCraft II Thread
probably just the SP campaign, unless they can pull off the balancing really well while still making them distinctly different from Koprulu terrans...

Re: StarCraft II Thread
Question for you guys playing this game:
I have a friend who knows zilch about computers. But, he's all wound up that his grandmother gave him a "about 2 years old" computer this past weekend for cleaning out her garage. Soooo....the first thing he bought for it is SC2. Without any Internet connection yet. :-/ So, the other night he told me that ... somehow and I don't know how ... but he discovered he doesn't have enough RAM to run the game and asked me if I knew what he needs to be able to run the game once he gets the Internet connected. I went over to his place and took a look at this "new" computer of his. First off, it's a Dell. Secondly, it has onboard video. Thirdly, it has 512 MB of DDR2 RAM. Fourthly, the motherboard has no AGP nor PCIe slot. Only two PCI slots. It DOES, however, have Windows XP installed and an Intel P4 @ 2.83 GHz...I think is the speed. I hope you're getting the picture here. ![]() HE STILL wants to play SC2. So, I have a couple of sticks of DDR2 I can put in it to bring the RAM up to 2 GB. And, MicroCenter has a GForce PCI card with 256 MB of VRAM. Now to the nitty-gritty: If I add the RAM I have and he buys that video card...is there any way that the game will run with any kind of decent performance? I do not have the game and cannot base any decision on whether there is any hope for him or not. So, I'm depending on you who are playing the game as to whether his hopes are too high or not. Appreciate your replies and, if needed, any suggestions.

Re: StarCraft II Thread
During intense moments of conflict it may have trouble...
PC Minimum System Requirements*: Windows® XP/Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 (Updated with the latest Service Packs) with DirectX® 9.0c 2.6 GHz Pentium® IV or equivalent AMD Athlon® processor 128 MB PCIe NVIDIA® GeForce® 6600 GT or ATI Radeon® 9800 PRO video card or better 12 GB available HD space 1 GB RAM (1.5 GB required for Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 users) DVD-ROM drive Broadband Internet connection 1024X720 minimum display resolution Those are the minimum requirements, so it seems his system just might be alright. Otherwise I would suggest selling it and using the cash to take a bite out of a shiny new computer

Re: StarCraft II Thread
FTR, the game does play. But, much as expected, it has to do so at the lowest possible settings. I didn't stick around long after getting it up and running, though. So, I'll find out later today if he was able to get any joy out of it.

Re: StarCraft II Thread
Someone gave me a free trial pass code and, after nearly exhausting the code in just two sessions, I had to go out and buy the game.
Several people I work with, including my supervisor, have been getting together online after work for a couple of hours. But, I have MUCH to learn!!! |

You better don't beat your supervisor in vs match , otherwise expect some salary cuts.

pricetag is my main hurdle.. I'll get it when there is a sale or it's in the bargain bin.

Re: StarCraft II Thread
WoW here is around $40 still, somehow. Although a while back when I thought I was going to get fully back into it I was able to buy a 60day game card for $18 (half price - I'm not sure how the store managed to cut the subscription fee)
Theres only so long you will be able to resist Neshi

Yeah, me and my gf would get it, but $120 just to play it with each other? Gonna wait and ask for it for Christmas or something.

Re: StarCraft II Thread
Finally got around to playing it for the last few days and I like it quite a bit. Never played SC before but I'm glad Blizzard kept gameplay similar to the old game. I lost interest in Dawn of War 2 due to the emphasis on small squads rather than building an army. I appreciate the small touches in SC2's campaign such as forcing you out of your base rather than turtle up to complete objectives and gather resources. Micromanagement is also more complex as most of the units are useless if left to their own devices that keeps noobies like me on my toes.
I've got to give the thumbs down to all those 2010 GOTY lists that put Black Ops over SCII.

The missions are certainly well designed and varied. The story elements were a nice surprise too, for me at least.
