exclamation Steam Account Hijacked
My steam account has just been stolen and I suspect that other accounts like HH "hopefully not" might be as well ,I have changed the password right now but just in case, for all admins here , if you noticed any spam posts or nonesense just suspend the account emmidiately.
I've contacted steam support and hopefully the account would be returned , I don't know how did that happened . It happened a few mintues ago while I was downloading AVP via steam , I got a message like this "This account is logged elsewhere" and then I tried to log in again but it said wrong password.
Any advice what to do ?

Restored the account magically, before even steam support mailed me back. I just tried logging in with my old password and ot worked. Wow ! Fixed itself . I don't know why I kept getting the message "logged in elsewhere" before. Changed the password anyway.

It could be that someone "was" logged in, that being someone other than you, or that there was a server error or lag where it showed you as logged in, yet locally you weren't.

1) open steam and click on settings and verify your account. This will make it impossible for anyone to change your password.

2)contact steam support and tell them that you have recovered your account, or else they will think the current user/you is the thief.

I think it was a simple Steam platform error, it has happened to me once and I know one more person that got the same error.

Perhaps the account was temporarily locked by an automated Steam script, backups, server migrations, things like that.

I don't think hijackers would give you back the account once they have it, unless there are no games in it and no payment information left SAVED in the account and even then, why spend the extra time...

You should ask for a clarification on the matter when you write your next email to Steam.

Don't worry too much about it comp_ali the same thing happened to me when I was downloading AVP it might be something specific to that game or not but my account is working fine now
